Cady, Chief Justice of the Iowa Supreme Court [Sent via electronic mail; hard copy original to follow] Re: Ethics complaint referral Dear Chief Justice Cady: This afternoon the Senate Ethics Committee voted, pursuant to Iowa Code section 68B.31(7) and Senate Ethics Rule 18(g)(4), to request that you appoint an independent special counsel to investigate the allegations contained in the first two counts of an ethics complaint filed on January 30, 2013, by Peter Waldron against Senator Kent Sorenson. The special counsel is to determine whether there is probable cause to believe a violation of chapter 68B or the Senate Code of Ethics has occurred and whether an adjudicatory hearing on the complaint should be held.
