The European Union

The European Union was born after the

World War II, the countries decided to form
a union to prevent more wars in the future.
The EU is an economic and political union
of 27 members states located primarily in
Europe. The 27 members are: Austria,
Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, the Czech
Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland,
France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland,
Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta,
the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania,
Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom but there are three official
candidate countries, Croatia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Turkey.
The official language in the Parliament is French but I thought that there are more
important languages: the English, French, Italy, Spanish, German and Pole. The more
important currency is the “Euro”. The flag of the European Union is blue with twelve
yellow stars.

The official seat of the European Union is in

Strasbourg (France). The country president of EU is
the Czech Republic. The population in 2009 is
499.673.300 estimate.

The EU objectives are: promote economic and social progress, speak for the EU on the
international scene, introduce European citizenship, make Europe an area of peace,
security and justice, maintain and extend existing EU law…
Some of the rights of Citizens are: the right to live and work in any EU country, the
right to vote in the EU elections, the right to life, the right to freedom of movement and
a lot of. The EU has got a day, the day is on 9th of May.

When the EU was born, some countries decided to join with it, the first members was;
Belgium, Italy, Luxemburg and the Netherlands, as well as France and Germany. In
1973 Britain joined the Union with Ireland and Denmark.

I think that there had a good idea so that there will won’t be any more wars.
