Selecting Your Precedent Studies

Global perspective, noting regional and cultural differences Examine the operations, design layouts, features, amenities, etc. Send questionnaires to target groups Locate examples of other relevant precedent studies

Precedent Study Documentation

Document the location, size, and interior spaces as well as the exterior Identify what is unique about your example Use visuals List all the amenities Document unique features If a Web site is available, look to see if it has a mission statement If it is a public space, look to see if customers have written reviews

Documenting your Precedent Studies

It is important to look at other cultural museums and analyze what they have to offer. After studying all four precedents and reviewing both the quantitative and the qualitative table, it has shown the kind of amenities needed to support a well maintained shelter and rehabilitation center. Many things need to go into consideration, and after reviewing all four, MSPCA Angell and North Shore Animal League America have proven to be the best. They have many amenities for dogs, cats, and even small animals. They both offer outdoor recreation and great therapy tools. Not only does the therapy used help the animals in the shelters, but employees and visitors as well. The proposed project will find much inspiration from both animal shelters and remember to follow in similar footsteps as what they have created.
