960 port DSLAM is 2*480 port DSLAM installed in the same rack. Wherever feasible
(locations where Tier-2 is collocated with DSLAM or where at least 2 Fiber Links are
available), configure the DSLAMs as 2*480 port only. Only in places where it is not
possible to configure as 2 * 480 port, we need to do cascading of the DSLAMs so that all
960 ports work on only 1 uplink without redundancy. In such cases, insert the SFP
Transceivers as given below:

Locations where the DSLAMs are collocated with a T1/T2 switch, a minimum
of 5 dB attenuators should be used mandatory for the uplinks.

Connecting to DSLAM
Connect a serial cable (Debug Cable) between the DSLAM’s Active ICM3Gc
Debug port and COM port of PC.
Run HyperTerminal on the PC.
Give a name for the connection and configure the COM port parameters as
9600, N, 8, 1. ( Click Restore Default)

After the successful login the DSLAM will give a message -“You are now in
the privileged mode”. For this level, CLI prompt shows the system name
followed by “#”.

As per the design GE 1 port of active ICM card (ICM A) will be connected to TIER 2
switch and GE 1 port of ICM B will be the standby connectivity.

Add the uplink port to VLAN 124 in tagged mode using the following commands.
AN2000_IB#slot icm
AN2000_IB(ICM-A)#vlan
AN2000_IB(ICM-A/Vlan)#interface ge < slot no.> vid 124 tag
AN2000_IB(ICM-A/Vlan)#interface ge 1 vid 124 tag
Make the Management VLAN as Inband VLAN using the following commands.
AN2000_IB#access
AN2000_IB(access)#
AN2000_IB(access)# in-band vid <vlan-id> address <ip-address> netmask < subnet-mask>

Check the connectivity between DSLAM and Tier-2 by pinging to Tier-2 IP address in case
of Project 2.2 Connectivity.
In case of Multiplay Network Connectivity, ping to the Default Gateway IP provided from
Bangalore NOC.
In the above configuration Inband VLAN IP Address will be changing from site to site.
Note: The Vlan name must be the name assigned to the Management VLAN.
Eg: AN2000_IB#ip route 0.0.0.0 netmask 0.0.0.0 gateway 10.240.71.78 interface inband

Enable the redundancy in Active ICM card using the command given below.
Command: AN2000_IB#redundancy
Save the configuration using command “save config” from the global configuration mode.
Configuration steps will be the same for all type of DSLAMs. Only number of user vlans
will change.
Step 1: Create the User Vlans (128-991 for 960 /128-559 for 480/128-343 for 240/128-
235 for 120/128-185 for 64) in ICM card.
Command:
AN2000_IB#slot icm
AN2000_IB(ICM-A)#Vlan
AN2000_IB(ICM-A/Vlan)# vid <vlan id> name < Vlan name>
Eg: vid 128 name vlan128
.
.
vid 559 name vlan559

Step 2: Create the same vlans ( 48 VLANs in each line cards) in ADSL cards
128-175 in slot 1
176-223 in slot 2
.
.
512-559 in slot 9
Note: In case of 240/120/64 Port DSLAM,as per the design last ADSL card is of
IPASDL8Ac type which gives 24 ADSL ports. So while configuring last ADSL card
(IPASDL8Ac),configure 24 user vlans only in that card.
Command:
AN2000_IB#slot 1
AN2000_IB(IPADSL8A-1)#vlan
AN2000_IB(IPADSL8A-1/VLAN)#vid < vlan id> name < vlan name>
Eg: vid 128 name vlan128
Step 3: Map the ICM card vlans to Internal ports in tag mode.
Command:
AN2000_IB#slot icm
AN2000_IB(ICM-A)#vlan
AN2000_IB(ICM-A/Vlan)#interface internal < slot no.> vid <vlan id> tag
Eg: AN2000_IB(ICM-A/Vlan)#interface internal 1 vid 128 tag ( For slot 1)
AN2000_IB(ICM-A/Vlan)#interface internal 1 vid 175 tag ( For slot 1
AN2000_IB(ICM-A/Vlan)#interface internal 2 vid 176 tag ( For slot 2)
….
AN2000_IB(ICM-A/Vlan)#interface internal 2 vid 223 tag (For slot 2)
AN2000_IB(ICM-A/Vlan)#interface internal 9 vid 559 tag ( For slot 9)

All the ports created has to be mapped with the corresponding Vlan .
i.e) Slot 1 Port 1-128
Port 2-129
…
…
Port 48-175
…
Slot 9 Port 1-512
Port 48-559
Note: In case of 240/120/64 Port DSLAM, as per the design, last ADSL card is of
IPASDL8Ac type which gives 24 ADSL ports. So while configuring last ADSL card
(IPASDL8Ac),configure upto 24 port only.

Step A: Before assigning the adsl profile, the dsl port should be in locked state.
Command:
AN2000_IB(IPADSL8A-1/PORT)#disable dsl 1-48
Eg:AN2000_IB#slot 1
AN2000_IB(IPADSL8A-1)#port
AN2000_IB(IPADSL8A-1/PORT)#disable dsl 1-48

Step -C After assigning the adsl profile, enable the dsl port
Command:
AN2000_IB(IPADSL8A-1/PORT)#enable dsl 1-48
Check the status of the dsl ports
AN2000_IB(IPADSL8A-1/PORT)# show line dsl 1-48
It will show all the port status as unlock
The GE port connected to the Tier-2 is the Uplink port. Add that port to the all ICM Vlans
in tagged mode.
Command:
AN2000_IB#slot icm
AN2000_IB(ICM-A)#vlan
AN2000_IB(ICM-A/Vlan)#interface ge < slot no.> vid <vlan id> tag
Eg: AN2000_IB(ICM-A/Vlan)#interface ge 1 vid 128 tag
AN2000_IB(ICM-A/Vlan)#interface ge 1 vid 129 tag
AN2000_IB(ICM-A/Vlan)#interface ge 1 vid 130 tag

1. Configuration steps are same like a 480 port DSLAM. GE 2 will be the Uplink.
2. Create vlan 116 in ICM and add GE2 as member of vlan 116 in tagged mode using
the above described steps.
3. Add vlan 116 to in-band management
4. Follow the steps described for creating vlan and ADSL port for 480. The only
difference is vlan number changes from 560 to 991 other than 128 to 559 and
GE- 2 should be a member of all the vlans in ICM other than GE1 in the case of
480.
