Childrens Prior Learning During the teacher meet parent and students lunch at a nearby park children noticed litter and discussed why it was there and how it got out of the bins, as well as where it should go. Teaching and Learning Preparation Researching on reduce, reuse, recycle the different recycle groups. i.e plastic paper, some examples of each collecting paper, texters, pencils, glue, scissors, etc for children to access during activity, talk to principal in order to display posters. Session Structure Lesson Phase: Bin It

Classroom Management and Organisation Introduce topic by recalling recent park trip and seeing litter. Talk about the three Rs and brainstorm things we can recycle and how we could inform the school community in our findings. In pairs children work together using available resources to make a poster promoting positive recycling in our school. Using existing knowledge children can use ideas and express these artistically. Showing their final product could talk about their approach. What will happen if we dont bin it?. Brainstorm ideas on how to convey message in art form.

Orientation /Introduction 5-10 mins

Assessment, Reporting & Evaluation Strategies Children expressing own ideas, using creativity and building ideas, contributing. Children are working positively together sharing tools, communicating in their pairs and on their tables. Understanding of recycling, used key concepts in design.

Activity 25-30 mins

Resources on each table sitting with pair calm music playing in background.

Closure 5-10 mins

Taking turns, listening, positive reinforcement.
