Intern reporter: Wrote soft features and hard news for the metro desk. Eight of the articles I wrote made the front page, including in-depth pieces about the citys floundering housing market and lack of affordable housing for the growing new immigrant population.

Business reporter: Wrote about 80 articles on the business beat about new shops, trends, student entrepreneurs and close coverage of the Jimmy Johns union protests. Additionally I wrote a few spot news articles one involving a shooting and two database projects. Columnist: September 2009 May 2010. Produced a weekly, opinion-based column analyzing national politics.
Web intern: Wrote 10 online stories each week about the Twin Cities business community, focusing on new products, campaigns, acquisitions and financial earnings. I also uploaded the magazines web content using CrownPeak and fact checked a business directory.
Blog manager: Recruited and managed more than 20 blog writers and photojournalists, marketed online presence and organized web content using Wordpress and Blogger. Intern: March 2009 June 2009. Wrote about humanitarian organizations for blog, transcribed interviews, fact checked articles and maintained Facebook, MySpace and Twitter accounts.

Bachelor of Arts in journalism and mass communication, minor degree in business management 3.64 GPA, cum laude honors For my honors thesis I launched a print publication targeting non-daily newsreaders called Gimme the Gist.
TRAVEL REFERENCES
After graduating a semester early, I spent five months backpacking in Europe, visiting 23 cities in 11 countries. My favorite experience was digging a ditch for a yoga studio in the mountains of southern Spain for two weeks. I built a website for the trip and kept a data mine of my expenses at thelongroute.com.
