HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY DARTS ORGANISATION

HERTFORDSHIRE v CUMBRIA 5th-6th OCTOBER 2013

For the second game of the season no changes were made to the teams, overall it was better display although some of the support at the game was sadly lacking from the previous game. Congratulations go to Jason Neville and David Pinnuck for their part as team captains over the weekend. It was also two very good wins by the Mens teams over the weekend with the Ladies also doing well it was a nice 21+3 24-15 overall win. On Saturday the Ladies lost 2-4 so the Men had a deficit to start with. On first was Lee Marlow for the second time he played well and gave another good account by winning 3-1 Second was Daniel Wood who played really well taking a 2-1 lead he met double trouble in the fourth leg, in the final leg although hitting a 180 to give himself a chance his opponent hit the double to win 3-2, a win for Daniel would have been no more than he deserved. Next was Eron Walkes who lost 1-3 had a steady game but his opponent was much better when getting down to the finishing doubles. David Pinnuck was next winning 3-1 scored well but still had difficulty on doubles. Next was John Creed losing 0-3 not much to say but John as gone off the boil so to speak. Wayne Dawson lost 1-3 to their man of the match won the first leg scored well but lacked the vital ingredient when the doubles were upon him. Next was Gary Ewington who had another excellent game to win 3-2 after being 1-2 behind keep it up Gary. Jason Sutton after his first game win had another convincing win 3-0 with a 14 dart second leg and 20 & 23 legs in 1st & 3rd gave him a 26.37 average and the Match Award. Well done Jason. This was followed by James Donnelly and it did not look good as James went 2-1 down but he fought back again to win 3-2. Tony Cox was next level at 1-1 a 102 finish in the 3rd leg a 20 dart 4th leg gave Tony the 3-1 win. Lee Purkis was next although he was not satisfied with his game, he still played well trying all the time he is on the oche and deserved his 3-1 win. Well done Leigh. Last player on was Lee White losing the first leg winning a bad 2nd he then went on to win his game 3-2 and give the team an 8-4 win making it a 10-8 overall lead. On Sunday with the Ladies drawing 3-3 it was a 13-11 overall lead, with the Mens A team to play, On first in the best of seven legs was Mark Elliot playing steady darts he won his game 4-1. Lee Searles was next looking for his first A team win 2-0 down he won the next leg with a 108 finish, he lost the next to go 1-3 down but he showed a great fighting spirit to win the last three legs to win a great game 4-3. Well done Lee. Robin Wigg followed in another great game 1-2 down a great 12 dart leg and a 139 finish in the 4th leg made it level, his opponent won the next but Robin had another two great legs to clinch the match 4-3. Well done Robin. There was some more great darts played in the next game by John Blair, John was 0-2 down levelled at 2-2 lost the 3rd levelled at 3-3 and was unlucky to lose the final leg for 3-4 defeat. Adam Pinnuck had another great game 2-0 in front then 2-1 another win his opponent made it 3-2 but then another excellent leg gave Adam a 4-2 win. Well done Adam. Then we had the best game of the day when David Meader took to the oche winning 4-0 with legs of 18, a 15 with a 101 finish, followed by a 12 dart leg with a 96 finish, taking his foot off the pedal he had a 4th leg win in 21 darts for a 30.36 average and a deserved Match Award. Well played David. Cont;

In the first six games we had some great games would it continue in the last six, the seventh game was the fight back of the day by Dan Mitchell 0-3 down and seemingly out of it with his opponent missing a double in the 4th leg to let him off the hook Dan won the leg and then won the next three legs for a 4-3 win. Well fought back Dan. Then another classic by Ian Clarkson including a 106 finish a 13 dart leg and every leg going against the darts his opponent won the seventh leg for a 4-3 win, a very unlucky defeat for Ian. Jason Neville followed after leading 3-2 his opponent levelled at 3-3 but Jason kept his nerve to take out the 7th leg for a 4-3 win. Steve Hartley did not have one of his good games losing 1-4 it did not help him missing his doubles, apparently the board seemed to be moving when he went for them. Martin Kingsley stepped up to the oche quickly 1-2 down he then won the next three legs with 118 finish in the 6th leg to clinch a 4-2 win After waiting another eternity last player David Mansfield was 2-1 in front but he could not keep up the momentum losing the last three legs for a 2-4 defeat but it did not stop the team winning 8-4. With the Mens Team gaining 16 points and the Ladies 5 points plus 3 bonus points it gave us the 24-15 overall win keeping up the good start to the season.
