Evidence (Candidate and Student)

You clearly stated the learning goals at the beginning of the lesson. The game approach actively engaged the students in learning new vocabulary and connected to their experiences. It was particularly effective to have them use the context in their text to select appropriate definitions. It might have been useful to display those words and definitions for all students to see. You used your questioning skills effectively during group work to encourage their thinking. A goal for your teaching would be in the area of modeling. Students would have benefitted from you demonstrating how to match a word to the definition prior to beginning the game. Pacing was an issue also. You werent able to complete the comprehension portion of your lesson. Perhaps that wasnt a reasonable expectation given the time.
