Proficient (3)
Consistently maintains the ostinati and is aware of their role within the ensemble. Is able to sing a melody or play a rhythmic complement to their existing bordun. Plays in a musically sensitive style. The students rhythm is good. The beat is generally steady.

Advanced (4)
Consistently keeps a light bouncy touch with gentle wrist action. Consistently uses both hands effectively. Consistently holds mallets in proper play position. Plays consistently in the center of the bar. The students rhythm is excellent and the beat is steady throughout. The student sits or stands properly, with the head up and the shoulders erect. The students posture and position are excellent. Breath control is excellent.

Basic (2)
