BRIEF INFORMATION ABOUT MODIFICATION TO THE SMART TESTER 1. PURPOSE Windows based diagnostic tool is modified to meet the diagnostic requirements for the Scorpio CRDe 2.6 vehicle (with EDC 16C8 ECU). the diagnostic requirements for the Scorpio CRDe 2.49 vehicle (with EDC 16C39 ECU). the diagnostic requirements for the Scorpio CRDe 2.2 vehicle (with EDC 16C39 ECU). the diagnostic requirements for the aggregate features introduced in Scorpio Vlx such as o o ABS Immobiliser

NOTE(S) : In diagnostic tool for Scorpio CRDe 2.6, number of labels is now increased (viz. Torque Limitation, Synchronization status etc.). These labels can be viewed directly by selecting the required label. Detailed procedure to view the labels shall be released shortly. English, Spanish, French & Italian language options are given in program to meet the global requirements. 2. COMPONENTS OF SMART TESTER There is change in programmable CD to meet the diagnostic requirements mentioned in 1. Other components (viz. USB lock, Laptop, Smart Interface Tool & Cables) are not changed. 3. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE TO UPDATE THE SMART TESTER Insert the CD having Mahindra Smart V1.1 (Nov. 2007) in Laptop and follow the stepwise procedure given below to upload the CD data in laptop. Step 1 : Open the folder EMS Diagnostic Tool V1.1 Step 2 : Click and install Mahindra Diagnostic Tester_1_1 Step 3 : Open the folder ABS Diagnostic Tool V1.0 Step 4 : Click on file Setup to install the program. Step 5 : Open the folder Immobiliser Diagnostic Tool V1.0 and install dotnetfx. Step 6 : After installing dotnetfx from Immobiliser Diagnostic Tool V1.0 folder, install Mahindra Secure V1.0 Step 7 : Install Mahindra SMART V1.1 NOTE(S) : There is no need to remove the old program installed in laptop. New programs in CD gets installed automatically deleting the old programs. Do not skip any step/steps. Follow all the steps mentioned above. Existing program of ECU flashing through SMART can be used for flashing data set for EDC 16C8 ECU only. ECU flashing feature through SMART for EDC 16C39 ECU shall be communicated shortly. The Diagnostic Laptop should not be used for any other activity other than a Diagnostic Tester. REF: MKTG-SVC/AM7/F/14

5. DIAGNOSTIC DETAILS GIVEN IN in Mahindra SMART V1.1 PROGRAM : Open the diagnostic program by clicking the Mahindra SMART V1.1 icon. Select the required field i.e., a. Engine ECU OR b. Antilock Brake System (ABS) ECU OR c. Immobiliser and click on OK

a. Engine ECU :

Scorpio CRDe 2.6 litre vehicles are having EDC16C8 ECU

Scorpio CRDe 2.49 & 2.2 litre vehicles are having EDC16C39 ECU b. Antilock Brake System (ABS) ECU With Antilock brake system (ABS) ECU following data can be retrived : i. General : Giving details about ECU application software, ECU hardware and Vehicle information. Live Data : Giving vehicle & ABS information -

This selection is applicable only for vehicles with EDC16C39 ECU

ii.

Vehcile information covers vehicle speed, Front Right & Left Wheel Speed, Rear Wheel Speed, Transfre case mode status and Battery & Ignition voltage. ABS information covers Brake Pedal (switch) pressed, Brake fluid level (switch), Status of Diagnostic Mode, status for Park Brake & ABS lamp and DRP & ABS

iii. Error codes : This gives error code details such as DTC, Lamp Status, Fault Stautus and Description of fault. iv. Bleeding / Flashing : This explains the procedure for bleeding and flashing the ABS EHCU REF: MKTG-SVC/AM7/F/14

c. Immobiliser :

Refer the notes given below

Immobiliser type selection is not required; SMART will read the type of Immobiliser (i.e., loop type or analog type) Note(s) : If vehicle immobiliser is active, vehicle can be driven upto the dealership by enabling Emergency Drive Away mode. CAUTION : Emergency Drive Away mode should be disabled after rectifying the fault. Engine ECU program shows the DTCs for the Immobiliser. However, DTCs for the immobiliser can be cleared through Immobiliser (i.e., Mahindra Secure) program only and not through Engine ECU program.
