Why does a student have an IEP?


Regulation 181/98 requires that an IEP be developed for every student identified as exceptional by an Identification, Placement and Review Committee (IPRC).

What is an Individual Education Plan?


IEPs are designed for students who are identified as having special needs. It describes adaptations or modifications & the special services that are provided for the child. It is reviewed regularly & updated once a year. It includes one of these components: Learning outcomes that differ from the expected learning outcomes for a course, subject, or grade A list of support services that will help the child achieve the learning outcomes A list of adapted or modified materials & suggested teaching methods to be used with the child
