AFFORDABLE CARE ACT Affordable Care Act The American government is supposed to listen to the peoples voice, not tell them what to do. What is this country coming to when the government is telling people what to do instead of listening to what the people have to say. The biggest issue right now is health care and insurance. The people of the United States are going to be forced to get health insurance either through work or an insurance company. This act is called the Affordable Care Act nicknamed Obama care. Obama care is going to be either a really good thing for America or a really bad thing for America. The Obama Care act is not all bad, there are good things about it, and For example everyone having insurance won't be a bad thing. People say that it will help decrease medical

bills that they already have which is good for those who have a ton of medical bills. According to Washington The affordable health care act will create a healthier population less burdened by excessive medical bills and the fear of economic ruin from getting sick (Kusler 2013). It will also increase the quality of care those patients on Medicare will receive. As stated by the ARA For the first time, Medicare will reward quality, not quantity; thus, bonus payments will be given to those doctors and hospitals that provide good quality care"(A.R.A 2010). This is a great thing for the elderly of this great country. The elderly deserve to be treated with respect for what they have done to help America get to where it is today. The cons of this act are many as well. The economists predict that the taxes will increase, that it will increase spending, and that it will destroy jobs. This is true. Americans will pay more for this health care act then they will get. It will do the economy and the people no good, there is a limit to what the government should interfere on and this is one thing that should be kept to the private matters and not government hands. The government is starting to push the boundaries of

the power that the people give them. Many people will go bankrupt with this healthcare act. This will affect everyday life for Americans. Not for the better but for the worst. So let's not let this happen. The people can do this by looking at both the pros and the cons. Then using their right to vote to change the way the American life is going. This is the wrong choice on the governments behalf. The people are better off choosing if they can afford health insurance and not being told the government doesn't care if the people can afford this the people have to get health insurance or they will pay for it. This is America the land of the free and the home of the brave. Americans make their own choices, and don't think that Obama can get away with this the people will be heard. The people will not be forced to get something they don't want. The Obama care act will destroy jobs, and young people will not want to get into jobs that they cannot make a living in. With Obama care those in health care will not be able to make a living. This will drive people away from that field of study, then there will not be doctors and surgeons and jobs will be destroyed. The AAMC said: "Questions have been raised as to whether there will be a sufficient supply of physicians and other health professionals to serve the nation, especially in light of concerns that the nation was facing potentially significant shortages even before health care reform (AAMC 2010). So the people can change the way things are going by speaking up and reminding the government that the people are in charge not the government. Obama care will raise the deficit even more which will lead to increased taxes. Which will then lead to a disaster in the economy? The American people do not want this. With these higher taxes more and more small businesses will fail. While there is good things about this act this is not one of them. The people need to realize this now before it is too late to do anything about it. The U.S Chamber of Commerce made this statement "The Senate bill would: impose

AFFORDABLE CARE ACT job-killing mandates and penalties on businesses, [and] increase taxes and burdens on small businesses (U.S Chamber of Commerce 2010). There is no need to let this happen Americans can act on their rights and not let this happen. The economy needs the small business just as much as the big corporations.

The biggest reason that Obama care is a bad thing for the American people is that a lot of people that already have insurance will lose that insurance. Who cares that millions of working families cannot afford health care? (Spain 2013). According to John Boehner According to experts, more than 87 million Americans could lose access to their current health care plan under the new law (Boehner 21010). Workers at a majority of the nations employers including as many as four out of every five small businesses would lose their current coverage, thus providing further evidence that Obama Care is doing exactly the opposite of what Democrats promised it would do"(U.S. Chamber of Commerce 2010). The people cannot let the government make promises then not keep them. Citizens will hold the government responsible for what they say. The Obama care act is going to bring many joys as well as many sorrows to the American people. While there are many good things about it there are still many changes to be made to this health care act. Let the people of the United States stick up for the rights that living in this land gives. Let the peoples' voice be heard so that the freedoms that they enjoy now may still be available to their children and grandchildren. The people are in charge of what happens in America, not the government. Don't let the peoples' voice fade and become nonexistent. Let it be strong forever and ever.
