Un-heard Abuse

By Alejandro Leyva

Crimes and violations of laws happen every single day in America. Many of these crimes and violations are looked into and dealt with, but thats only those that are seen and properly reported to the authorities. So what about those that are seen but unreported or even given the time of day to be checked up on. How can we expect crime rates to decrease if any and all crimes if some are not even looked in to, at the very least obtaining a general details of the suspected crime or crimes. In fact it is estimated us by Sara OMeara and Yvonne Fedderson on the website childhelp.org in the article National Child Abuse Statistics that about 6 million cases of child abuse are reported every year in America. They also states that you can estimate for every reported case of child abuse, there is a case that goes unseen or reported by witness of these cases of abuse. It is also the sad fact that many of these children in cases of abuse do not report the abuses they have suffered because of a slew of factors. Ranging from the simple fact that they may be too young to fully grasp the situation, asses it, then take the proper actions to resolve it. Some may be un-educated in how to report or even who to report these cases of abuse to. But sadly most cases of abuse that go unreported have either been witnessed by a person not involved in the situation, or have shown visible symptoms or signs that a case of abuse has or is still taking place. These acts of abuse cannot be tolerated in any way shape or form no matter the situation, especially when these young children can be so easily harmed or taken advantage of. These children in some cases cannot or do not know how to help them their selfs, they need any and

all help they can get before the continuation of crimes occurs of in very severe cases the childs death can result from the abuse. In the website Helpguide.org, the article Child Abuse & Neglect, Recognizing, Preventing, and Reporting Child Abuse written By M. Smith, and J. Segal the one and only true and effective way to help stop child abuse is to report any and every sitting, or signs of a case of abuse to the proper people like the law enforcement, so the proper actions can be taken to help bring the pain and suffering of the innocent youth to an end. I could not agree with this article on helpguide.org, the notion of letting the seen go unheard is just as bad as helping commit or hide the evidence of the case ever happening. It could be compared that letting these seen crimes and cases of abuse go un-dealt with as being just as bad as committing these horrific acts of abuse youre self. The idea that not reporting a case of abuse that you have witnessed is not your problem or is not a place that you feel like you should get involved in. Letting crimes and abuses be disregarded and un-solved for any reason is a injustice to humanity itself. Letting a fellow human being, especially the innocent and the very young, to deal with continued abuse, is an atrocious act that cannot be tolerated by any one in any place. Because just like crimes, reporting the crimes can be down in any place or time and only depends on the will of the witnesses and victims to help end abuse in total.
