Step I: Preparing to Write the PlanREFLECTION


Reflect and prepare to write your PDP goal in Step II. While reflection is a required step in the PDP process, recording your reflection below is optional.

Step II: Writing the PlanCOMPONENTS A. Description of School and Teaching, Administrative, or Pupil Services Situation Arrowhead Union High School provides educational services to an suburban population of about 3300 students. The community of Hartland is a highly industrialized based community with a current population of just over 9,000. The district and staff are committed to providing a quality educational environment and experience for the young people of Hartland and the surrounding area. The mission of Arrowhead High School is to provide a comprehensive public education that challenges individuals to reach their full potential. Students, school, parents, and community share the responsiblilty to provide an A rrowhead Experience that will enable students to become responsible adults who can succeed in the future. I have recently been hired as a student technology education instructor Arrowhead High School. The High School has a population of 2300 students through grades 9-12. The certified staff is composed of 135 teachers in addition to 45 support staff members. Arrowhead is a large school but offers small sized classrooms to help students with the success, and the teachers, parents, and administrators work together to the goal of quality education for all students. As the student instructor of technology at the High School I am teaching in this departments with six other technology education instructor. I am also serving responsibilities of assisting with the advisory of the FIRST Robotics and SkillsUSA. Within this department I am teaching three technology education courses. The high school provides a wood shop, metals shop, computer drafting lab, manufactroing lab and six classrooms for Project Lead the Way classes. According to DPI data, Arrowhead High School displays above average state achievement testing scores. Arrowhead 10th

graders scored on average 84% higher than state averages on testing areas the previous fiscal school year. Just fewer than 60% of students in the district participated in extracurricular/co-curricular academic activities during this school year.

I will improve my skills in preparing, developing, applying, and evaluating several learning techniques and methods into my classroom and lab so that students will actively learn through knowledge of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) in order to transition their learning into continuous engagements in learning. By improving my skills in providing effective learning processes, my students can apply what they have learned in other technology, real life scenarios, and post-secondary education. Concentrating content knowledge around STEM allows for the ability to align my technology curriculum with core curriculum courses in the high school. Improving my development of instructional activities will make me a more prepared teacher and a professional who encourages active engagement in student learning. My goal addresses Wisconsin teacher standards #1, #4, #8. Through my goal I will strive to focus on improving and developing within each of these standards. D. Plan for Assessing and Documenting the Goal


Record the anticipated methods you will use to assess your professional growth and the effect on student learning. It may be helpful to review steps III and IV when writing your assessment plan as they outline what is necessary when documenting your completed plan.

Take courses on STEM content. Review Project Lead the Way Curriculum. Request faculty to observe and assess my learning methods and techniques. Students will also assess my professional growth by filling out surveys of my classes. Talk to other teachers in other departments to see if students are taking what they learn and applying it to other subjets. OBJECTIVE 1

I will develop lessons that build upon previous lessons and units to reinforce what students have learned and assess my development of activities for active and affective learning.

I will develop a safety plan and test that will be first priority in my lab classes and will be used by students throughout the school year.

I will meet with the two other teachers in my fields and the core curriculum instructors to align my course curriculum with others to fulfill my STEM goal. I will assess the labrotary setup and document rules and procedures similar to my safety management plan. I will include progressive assignments on a project in the portfolio that build upon each other to develop a end product.

I will asign portfolios to my students that will be collectively evaluated on student learning through several methods/techniques.

I will transition my students to and from lessons, units, class, and secondary education.

I will hand out an exam that does not count as a grade covering the content I will teach in each class. I will ask questions to my students as a whole and individually to analyze their knowledge and understanding of the content of the class. Questioning will also be part of every lesson and various collaborations throughout the semester. I will explain how previous subject are related to and will be used in current and future topics to gain perception and understanding of the relevance of each topic within my students. I will research desired careers of my students to furthur the preparement of transitioning beyond high school. Collaborate with faculty within the school to asses individual and student group content knowledge and the content being taught in their classes.

Step III: Annual Review of the PDP


Annual reviews are done in years two, three, and four and will be submitted as part of your completed plan in the last year of your licensure cycle.

Return to Step II E and enter completion dates for each activity completed. Write a reflection in year two summarizing the progress made towards completing your goal. Indicate, in your reflection, how you grew professionally and/or how your professional growth had an effect on student learning. Write any revisions to your objectives or activities in the revision area. Return to this step annually until your PDP is complete and ready to be submitted for verification.

Initial Educators may complete a 3, 4, or 5 year plan. One annual review is required for a three-year plan, two annual reviews are required for a four-year plan, and three annual reviews are required for a five-year plan. If there is a substantial change to your GOAL, you must complete and resubmit section II A-II E to a team for review and approval of the new goal. Professional Educators must complete a five-year plan with three annual reviews.

Step IV: Documentation of Completion of the PDP


Your PDP must include 3-5 pieces of evidence that document professional growth and the effect on student learning. Number and label each piece of evidence (i.e., 1. Student test score analysis). You may use a single piece of evidence that focuses solely on professional growth or the effect on student learning as long as your completed plan includes both types of documented evidence. When attaching evidence, please include the number and label entered below.

C. Submitting the Completed PDP for Plan Verification


Submit your completed PDP including your 3-5 pieces of labeled evidence to a PDP Team no later than January 15 of the final year of the plan. If you are an Initial Educator, include a copy of your signed Goal Approval Signature Form(s).
