Objective:
To gain acceptance into a graduate program in order to obtain student development theory-based knowledge and additional hands on experience for a career in Student Affairs and Higher Education. I want to utilize my experiences to create a welcoming, supportive and all-inclusive environment for the campus community.

Student Organization Advising Assistant, Student Life December 2009 Present University of California, Riverside Riverside, CA Assist with the development, implementation, promotion and evaluation of all events and programs associated with approximately 140 Academic/Professional, Cultural, and Honors organizations. Coordinate the application, payment, food safety training and day of logistics for over 100 student organizations selling food and tabling during annual Block Party welcome event attended by more than 10,000 students and community members. Coordinate the Student Organization Awards Celebration including the application/review process for over 150 applications, ordering awards, food/giveaways for 400 attendees, event marketing, decorations, and live student group performances. Track and confirm the re-registration progress and status of 400 student organizations. Advise and train approximately 10-20 members of the Student Organization Network Peers Program. Supervise four paid student staff that act as resources to student organization members. Facilitate student organization re-registration and leadership development workshops. Coordinate operational hours and student staffing for the Student Organization Workroom. General Program Assistant, Bear Facts Orientation December 2008 August 2009 University of California, Riverside Riverside, CA Assisted with publication updates such as the UCR Student Resource Guide seen by approximately 4,200 first year students and the Counselor Training Manual utilized by over 70 orientation staff members. Created informational presentations for incoming students highlighting UCR facts and opportunities for students engage in. Coordinated an hour-long welcome session for all students, including spirited cheers, learning the UCR Fight Song, and a presentation from the Dean of Students on values that UCR students should embody. Assisted the Student Organization and Orientation Advisor with applications, registration, payments, event logistics and student staff supervision during the student organization showcase featuring over 100 student organizations. Registration Staff, Bear Facts Orientation December 2007 August 2008 University of California, Riverside Riverside, CA Provided high quality customer service to incoming students, family members, staff and faculty regarding any questions about our Orientation programs via phone, voicemail, mail, e-mail and in person. Composed professional letters and e-mails sent to students or families regarding orientation. Worked with confidential student information such as student identification numbers, financial aid distributions, personal identifiers and academic history. Processed and inputted cash, check, money order and credit card payments from Orientation fees. Collected and inputted all necessary student information such as communication logs, payment history, orientation session date changes and cancellations into the Orientation Registration database. Organized the registration assistance booth during Check-In of each orientation program for any students or family members that wanted to add on into the program or had an outstanding balance on their account.

Lead Orientation Counselor, Bear Facts Orientation January 2007 August 2007 University of California, Riverside Riverside, CA Facilitated various training sessions for over 60 orientation staff, including a focus on their Internet selfrepresentation through social networking sites, discovering leadership ability and spreading school spirit. Served as the coordinator for a group of 15 counselors by providing feedback, addressing concerns with performance, providing oversight of their task completion while serving as a resource for them. Respected the confidentiality of student records before, during, and after Orientation. Assisted with trouble-shooting and problem solving as challenges arose during the program. Campus Tour Guide, Undergraduate Recruitment September 2006 - June 2009 University of California, Riverside Riverside, CA Provided general campus tours for elementary, junior high, high school, current students, transfer students and newly hired staff/faculty. Provided visitors information about UCRs and Riversides history, campus, historical facts and figures. Gave tours of various sizes from one-on-one to groups of up to 50. Orientation Counselor, Bear Facts Orientation March 2006 - August 2006 Transfer Orientation Counselor, Bear Tracks Orientation September 2006, 2007, 2008 University of California, Riverside Riverside, CA Completed over 90 hours of staff training on skills and duties necessary to perform the functions of an Orientation Counselor, including knowledge of academic requirements of all majors, program components, small and large group facilitation, and additional staff meetings. Assisted with the set-up, registration, execution and follow-up for each orientation program. Assisted with trouble-shooting and problem solving as challenges arose during the program. Served as a resource to first years/transfer students or family members. Assisted students on a one-on-one basis to find classes that satisfied degree and graduation requirements. Aided in the student transition by comparing/contrasting the different experiences and responsibilities students have compared to high school or another institution. Assisted students with navigating various online resources and forms necessary for enrollment.
