Participants will use this room as home base for the day. You may leave coats and other personal items in this room while you move around the Capitol. Coffee will be available to get your day started!

Participants will observe the House of Representatives Education Finance Committee in session. The goal is to familiarize participants with the Committee process and its pomp and procedure. This time will also afford participants the opportunity to get a flavor for the tenor of questions asked and the breadth of topics discussed.

Participants may choose to observe the House of Representatives Education Policy Committee in session. The goal is to further familiarize participants with the Committee process and to compare and contrast the role of the Finance versus Policy Committees.

Participants will use this time to meet with local elected officials. Veteran directors such as Jill Skarvold, Nan Records, John Klaber, Melissa Schaller, Cheryl Johnson, and Kim Gibbons will provide directors unfamiliar with the process the opportunity to shadow them on visits to become familiar with the process. Participants are not required to participate in this shadowing experience. They may instead choose to contact individual representatives and establish meetings either on their own or teaming with other participating directors.
