t is important that the nverter can connect to the grid as soon as the generator starts. This is necessary so that the
inverter can control the TG speed while the generator is warming up before it synchronises. Without this the TG will
overspeed.
The nverter will synchronise to the grid automatically. t senses the phase of the grid voltage and generates its
output to be synchronised with the grid.
The generator controller (for example a Woodward controller) is responsible for synchronising the generator to the
grid and also for disconnecting the generator if the grid voltage or frequency is out of specification.
The Grid company will typically approve the voltage and frequency settings in this controller.
A second signal from the generator controller is used by the inverter to control the Grid Connect switch in the
inverter. The inverter can only connect to the grid if this signal gives permission.
f while the generator is running there is a problem with the grid, the generator controller will send a signal to the
inverter and it will immediately open its Grid Connect switch.
