Taught a ten-day unit on Shakespeares Much Ado About Nothing to 11 grade honors students in the fall semester. Students showed significant growth in understanding of Shakespearean language and in writing ability. Observed 11th and 12th grade classes taught by two cooperating teachers. Maplewood Career Center

Worked in a high school writing center. Aided students 9th through 12th grade in their writing at various points in the writing process. Talked to students about college application essays. Went into a classroom and helped students organize research and create paper outlines. Exceeded required hours. Designed, created, and ran a monthly newsletter for students and parents with updates on the Writing Center and its tutors.

Co-taught poetry writing to 12 graders as a part of an elective class titled Teaching Poetry in the Schools for six weeks. Helped students hone their poetry writing skills with the use of model poems. Learned valuable lessons in teaching with a partner. Gained experience in teaching in a technical career school. Class culminated in a poetry reading titled Giving Voice at Kent State University.

United Kingdom: Spent two weeks exploring historical London, experiencing such historical sites as London Tower, London Bridge, the site of the original Globe Theatre, the Cabinet War Rooms, the HMS Belfast, and many more. Attended Shakespeares Globe Theatres productions of A Midsummer Nights Dream and The Tempest. Acquired DVDs of eight plays for use in the classroom. Spent one week exploring historical Edinburgh, Scotland, experiencing such historical sites as Edinburgh Castle, Holyroodhouse Palace, National Museum of Scotland, and Loch Ness. Traveled via bus tour through England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland, and Wales. Experienced many historical sites. Spent an additional four days in London, England to attend Shakespeares Globe Theatres production of Much Ado About Nothing.
