List 25: r-Controlled vowel ar and or. In the word car you can hear the vowel sound /a/. In the word for you can hear the little word or spelled o, r. Or and ar can be added to the end of a word to tell us what job a person does or to describe what they are.

Moving Letters to Make Words

This is a hands-on approach to spelling. First, practice making words with the sounds of letters.

Directions: Student cuts apart the letters on this page. Scramble the letters. Parents say one word from the word box. The child uses individual letters to spell each of the words in the word box.
Second, the child prints the word.
