PROJECT 1
DESCRIPTION
project 1 entailed the exploration of a precedent in order to practice post-design analytical diagrams and technical drawings. i examined the pope-leighey house by frank lloyd wright. built in 1941, this custom virginia house demonstrates wrights usonian style.

project 2 focused on the unitized construction of a woodworking sculpture. given 27 pieces of douglas fir 2x2x12 and allowed no more than 8 cuts per piece on 3 types of piece, we were required to design an infinitely repeatable system. my concept was to create the most ambiguous conclusion from the most simple process. my 27 pieces were cut into 9 sets of 3 schemes (below); one piece from each set was combined to make a single unit (right); each of the 36 units was attached in the same way (left) to create an infinite, spiraling nebula.

PROJECT 3
project 3 involved creating a bench allowing either 3 people to sit or 1 person to lay down. the material-based process my team developed was driven by the combination of a transparent, linear, standardized element (plastic light guard tubes) with an opaque, voluminous, flexible element (canned expanding spray foam). the tubes, aranged in a growing honeycomb pattern, provided structure, while the foam acted both as the binding element of the structure and a comfortable surface to rest upon. an engaging combination of geometry and organisism, this bench is beautiful, functional, and durable.

DESCRIPTION
project 4 required the design of a square warehouse and yard in marfa, texas using only concrete masonry units. our team project is a one-block system, exploring the different capabilities in terms of thermal mass, light penetration, and visual effect inherent within a single unit. each curtain wall of our warehouse features a different facade with a distinct function and field effect.
PROJECT 5
project 5 involved the design of a public poolhouse in hollywood; my project was based on identifying the space available as a current void in the surrounding urban fabric. i then made this void into a solid, creating areas of occupation by subtracting voids from this new solid based on programmatic requirements: amount of moisture, privacy, and temperature variation. The result is a poolhouse which at first appears to stand alone, but subtly interacts with the surrounding neighborhood.
