Design Plan

Purpose: My purpose is to provide different views on food banks and the people who take
advantage of their resources. I will explore the question, are food banks really helping to end
hunger, or are they making it worse? My goal will be to find each stakeholders level of
acceptance through research and back it up with individuals personal stories. When Im done
with my presentation, I want to leave my audience questioning where they stand on the issue. I
will reach this goal by using these strategies listed below:

Ethos: I plan to include a lot of ethos in my paper and speech by providing many different types
of stakeholders. For some this may be a touchy subject because of the different stakeholders I
have chosen. For this I will make sure to not come across in a biased manner and provide a
calm tone when talking about some of these touchy stakeholders that may be taking advantage
of food banks.

Logos: I plan to include logos in my presentation by providing my audience with many statistics
to back up each stakeholders views on food banks. I will provided not just their opinion about
the issue but background information on who each stakeholder is.

Pathos: I plan to incorporate pathos into my presentation by providing individual stories from
each stakeholders stance on the issue. I will provide stories, blogs, videos, and quotes from
these individuals.

Audience: During my paper, I will focus on my audience as being my stakeholders. I will make
sure to include their level of acceptance and rejection regions and conclude my findings. I will
focus my attention on them and making sure I portray them correctly. In my speech, I will focus
my audience as being my classmates because my classmates are not my stakeholders. I will
invite them to learn more about my topic and hope they can find common ground on the issue.

Medium(how will it be presented): For my paper I would like to propose a policy that hits in the
realm of all my stakeholders, so the reader can see each stakeholders point or stance that
shows each level of acceptance or rejection and be able to discuss it throughout the piece. I
also want to provide individual stories of real life examples that will back up the stakeholders
claims. For my speech, I will not talk about level of acceptance or rejection during presentation
because it will confuse my audience as well as it is not the purpose of my presentation. I dont
know how I will present my speech yet, but I will use ITHC chpt 15 for help on the most creative
and effective way to do this.


Arrangement: For my paper, I will need to use ITHC chpt 15 to figure out the best organizational
pattern to use when figuring out how to write a research paper like this. I would like for my thesis
to open with an overview where i would lay out my issue, purpose, and stakeholders. Then for
the body paragraphs give background information on and statistics for each stakeholder as well
as personal stories to back up their level of acceptance and rejection.
