Professional Development Plan

Name: Ashleigh Sartori Graduate of Primary Education
Teaching Philosophy- I would like to create an enriching and engaging learning environment for all students, catering for diversity in the
classroom.
Skills attributes successfully demonstrated from the
standards (graduate)

Over the course of studying education I have developed
skills in the following standards
Standard 1: Know the student and how they learn
- Form relationships with each student understanding
their physical, social and intellectual characteristics
and understand how they learn (multiple
intelligences). This helps with developing
appropriate lessons.
- Student diversity, cultural background
Standard 2: Know the content and how to teach it
- Lesson plans
- Understanding the Australian Curriculum, all
capabilities and cross curriculum
- Implementing ICT in the classroom
Standard 3: Plan teaching and learning
- Constructing Unit plans
- Selecting appropriate resources (scootle provides a
great variety)
- Evaluation and reflection. I have learnt how to
Plan for ongoing professional
learning as a practicing teacher

As a practicing teacher, the skills
listed need to be implemented
in the classroom. It is
fundamental each teacher
consistently develops;
knowledge, practice, reflection
and interaction with children,
which is why it is crucial each
standard is met at the graduate
level before moving in to the
proficient stage as a teacher.
As a practicing teacher I would
hope to follow the following
plan:
1) Understand and know
the curriculum- to create
engaging lessons
2) Use a variety of teaching
resources- such as
Support networks

The Australian institute for teaching and school
leadership (2014) provides tools to improve
teaching practice. I would use:
Self-assessment tool- to improve my evaluation
and reflection on my own teaching.
Teacher tool kit- Provides online tools and
resources to support teaching. This would give
me the opportunity to use a variety of
resources.

Queensland Studies Authority (2013) provides a
number of workshops each year to develop
teachers knowledge in education.
- NAPLAN workshops for teachers grade
3-7
There is a number of online resources I would
use the QKLG modules to develop my teaching
and learning and to help with demonstrating all
of the teaching standards;
Module 1: Getting started

constructively improve lessons.

scootle and the learning
place to help with finding
evidence
3) Develop relationships
with co-workers and
other teachers to share
ideas and knowledge
4) Learn about each
student
5) Develop strong
relationships with the
school community and
parents
6) Devote a great amount
of time after each day
evaluating and reflecting
upon my own teaching
and success of lessons.
7) Constantly engage is
staff meetings and
professional learning
programs the school
might offer
8) Seek help and advice for
my own- courses I might
want to be involved in
Module 2: Knowing children, families and
communities
Module 3: Planning for learning and
development
Module 4: Observations to guide decision
making
Module 5: Continuity and reflective practice.
As I mentioned previously I would like to
improve and develop my skills in reflection,
evaluation and collecting appropriate
resources which these Modules would help
with.

TTA (2013) provides a huge variety of courses
either face to face, after school, online, etc., for
teachers. As previously mentioned to develop
my learning I would find the following courses
useful and they would enhance and develop
my learning:
Students with diverse needs;
- Autism Awareness and Strategies for
the Educational Environment - Online
Integrating technology;
- The networked classroom
- Learning digital futures
To develop my knowledge in Aboriginal and
Skills attributes and professional strategies need to
develop before becoming a professional teacher

I need to develop my strategies for teaching a classroom
with a variety of abilities, disabilities, as well as teaching
students from different ethnic backgrounds- Aboriginal and
Torres strait Islander students. This element is fundamental
S00115918 Ashleigh Sartori EDFD452
and a key aspect of a range of sub standards ( 1.4 and 2.4)

I also need to use resources more effectively from a variety
of different sources. This requires implementing ICT in the
classroom, which I need to improve on.
I need to learn about how to reflect and self-evaluate more
effectively- courses.

Torres Strait Islander education I would like to
partake in Indigenous Vocational Education
and Training (VET) founded the Queensland
government. This support network provides a
variety of courses and training in Indigenous
Education (Education Queensland, 2014).
