"Don't stop believin'
Hold on to that feelin'
Streetlights, people
Don't stop believin'
Hold on"
This lyric's, and song's theme is an obvious one; To never stop believing and do
not give up. Better things will always come, you just have to keep pressing on.
Motivational tone; No real symbolism; Common song
This song sends an important message that I believe is very true. This lyric is poetic
because it makes me feel hopeful just by listening to it; It makes me realize that I
need to keep on hoping and things will work out.

Found and listened to at my friend's house
The point that Pink oyd is making is a very poetic one. It is poetic because the question itself
makes you wonder the di!erence, and it overcame me with a realization that I really do not
know sometimes what is the "good" and what is the "bad." The feeling I got when listening to
this more deeply was confusion. What also was interesting is that there is no middle,
according to the lyric. Is there only good and bad and not some sort of in between?
"So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell,
blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green eld from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?"
The artist is saying that it is not so easy to tell the di!erence between the good and the bad. He is
questioning and wondering if you, the listener, know this fact as well.
Heaven and hell are a symbol for good and bad. Same thing with all of the other metaphors
in the verse.
