Objective: SWBAT: Explain electricity, magnetism, and thermodynamics concepts by researching focus questions and vocabulary,

conducting experiments, and creating a project that will help us explain our understanding, in order to connect these physics
concepts to our everyday lives in a clear, concise, easy to understand manner.
Students will use scientific skills and processes to explain the interactions of matter and energy and the energy transformations that
occur RI.4.3
Vocabulary: Define at least 5 Using examples to help you explain.

Kinetic Energy: Kinetic energy is when energy is being used. Example Say you have an object and
its moving its using energy.

Potential Energy: Potential energy is when energy is stored in an object in its position because its
not using energy so energy is being stored in an object.

Magnetism: When two objects are attracted to one another. Example when you have a magnet then
say you have a piece of iron they will get attracted to each other.

Magnetic Poles:North and south poles of a magnet;

Gravitational Forces: Part of the Earth's force as known the North and the South Pole attract

Attract (magnetic):To pull toward one another, as opposite poles of two magnets pull toward one
another. Example when you have a magnet then say you have a piece of iron they will get attracted
to each other since magnets are attracted to iron.

Repel (magnetic):Magnetic force pulling away from a different magnet. Example like if you have a
magnet and you have that magnet on the north side of the magnet and have the other magnet on the
north side theyre gonna repel.

Force: The strength of energy
Magnetic Force:Magnetic force is when two magnets are attracted to one another.

Electromagnet: An Electromagnet is when the magnetic field is produced by electric current.

Mr. Karrass Focus Questions (Cite your sources)

1. What change can magnets cause? When the North and the North stays away or in other
words they repel.

2. How can magnets show evidence of energy? They can repel and attract, and they can send
gravitational pull through other objects until it reaches a point,/or, in other words, until the
magnetic force cannot give out anymore Magnetic force. Also because magnets have magnetic
force and i'm pretty sure the magnetic force has energy. /Magnetic energy.

3. How can a magnet be used as a source of energy?
Put it on a board.Table leg, and they can attract and/or repel,
