A MINUTE OF SILENCE

(Pause)
That was a minute.

That was a minute of silence for fear and weakness
A minute of silence for hate and pettiness
A minute of silence that made all the difference
In my present experience and level of existence.

A minute of silence for confusion and conspiracy
A minute of silence for mistakes and misunderstanding
A minute of silence for things that arent meant to be
A minute of silence for things that arent what they seem.

Theres advice, theres counsel, correction and criticism
And whether its constructive or destructive is the listeners prerogative.
Lets take a minute to watch water flow down the ducks back
Because it shows who leads the pack of athletes on the track,
Better still we can walk on water and play in it
We can take a well spent minute to swim in it.

A minute of silence for the builders and the stone they rejected
A minute of silence for unexpected places of prominence
A minute of silence for corruptions seared conscience
A minute of silence for unmerited pre-eminence,
Another minute for those who loved in word and creed
But failed to deliver in truth and deed
And a final minute for the naysayers and those who said it couldnt be
done
Because the last word belongs to those who rise when they fall!
