Abstract
The most important indicator to evaluate the merits of a solar collector is the thermal efficiency, which is an effective way to use of
solar energy and achieve building energy saving if it has accurate data. This paper tested the thermal efficiency of solar collectorto
measure and calculate the efficiency of two types of collectors tank temperature changes under sunny conditions at different times
throughout the day,

then plotting the efficiency curvesanalyzing the application of the two types of collector in severe cold area. The

results showed that the heat-collecting capacity in unit-time of evacuate tube collector is 808.13W, the average of heat collecting
efficiency is 36.71%; And flat plate solar collector is 496.94 W, the average of heat collecting efficiency is only 19.84%. These results
can be explained that the research of evacuate tube collector is the focus for the severe cold area to use of solar energy technology.
