System Conficts

Here are some of our systems typical conflicts and restrictions. Your job in each case is to find a creative
solution so that when you encounter this problem, you will be able to troubleshoot it quickly and still
successfully complete your project. Answer each question will !ive some hints in class, and su!!est

$. All %ffice applications encounter difficulties with &' saved documents that you try to open on
previous versions. (hy, and what is the solution to this problem)
*. Adobe video and animation software requires .avi or .mp+ or .wav file formats. ,hese are
incompatible with i-ods, many video formats, etc. (hat will you do to ensure that you have the
correct video or audio or ima!e file format for the project you need to complete)
+. .any versions of Adobe are not backwards or forwards compatible. ,his means that you cannot
open many files like those created in /lash, -remiere, etc. in any version other than the 012
version in which it was created here at school. f you intend to work on files to do e#tra work at
home, how can you make this work)
2. 3ideo files and Animation files are H4"5 files. (orkin! with these on a network is impossible. f
you find you are unable to render clips, e#port, or have blanks showin! up on your timeline, you
have probably saved your project or some portions of your project into your network version of .y
6ocuments. 1it at a video machine 7has two monitors8, and find a drive that doesnt e#ist on any
other machine. (hat is the name of this drive, and how can you use this visible drive to help with
your lar!e video and animation files and assi!nments) (hat will you have to be very careful that
you always do in order for this to work successfully)
9. You will encounter blocked sites that contain content that you want to access for projects.
1ometimes they will be sound effects that you need, pictures to use in a tutorial, or other thin!s
which are copyri!ht free and that you really do need for your assi!nments. How will you mana!e
to access the materials that you need and still stay within the rules of the school)
:. f you are on a .ac, you will have some file incompatibility. .ac users must do what in order to
save their files so that they can be opened here on -0s and at home on their .acs)
'. Your links to your assi!nments have broken odds are you did one of the followin! thin!s. How
do you solve each of these problems)

software like -remiere in order to view the project. You have clicked on the link and if it does
open, it takes forever to open, and when it finally does, its the full project with all your materials,
rather than a plain old video that opens quickly in .edia -layer and just plays for you. (hat have
you done, and what is the solution to this problem)
A. Your ima!e file doesnt open, or insists on openin! a specific kind of software in order to view the
project. t opens -hotoshop or somethin! similar but never lets you actually see the picture.
