Meet the Teacher
My name is Janet Boucher
and I am entering my 20
th

year of teaching split
between North Carolina and
Ohio. This past year, I was on sabbatical and
worked as a professor and educational
supervisor in Special Education at Wright
State. I received my Bachelor of Science
degree from UNC-Greensboro in Deaf
Education and my Masters in Special
Education; Learning Disabilities from Elon
University. My professional credentials
include licensure in the following areas:
Hearing Impaired, Mild to Moderate and
Moderate to Intensive. Additional work
involves owning and operating an Italian
restaurant, working as a community, church
and educational free-lance interpreter for
over 35 years and this fall, I will be
completing my Transition to Work
Endorsement at WSU.
I have been married to my husband
David for 26 years. David is the
Childrens Pastor at Patterson Park Church in
Beavercreek. We have two sons, Nick, a
recent graduate from WSU will attend
graduate school at Cedarville University and
is the training manager at Chic-fil-a in
Beavercreek. Charlie is a junior at WSU,
majoring in Music Education , works at
Kroger in Beavercreek and is on staff with
the BHS marching band.
In my free-time, I love spending time
with my family and two dogs, Henry who is
16 and Brady who is 1 . I also direct a
Ministry at Church for families with
disabilities and love singing, anything

My Philosophy
Each student who enters my
classroom carries with them unique
strengths, preferences, interests and needs
(SPINS) comes to me with unique
experiences, interests and learning styles. My
number one priority as a teacher is
established on the relationships that are built
through communication and exploration. My
goal is facilitate, guide, support and motivate
true learning in order for students understand
who they are and the difference they can
make in this world. I believe that good
teaching involves experiential learning,
personal reflection, ongoing professional
development and collaboration. I value
parent involvement and encourage you to
partner with me to give your student the most
powerful and joyous learning experience
possible.

Communication
Your student will receive an agenda.
This will be used daily to inform you
of what we are studying and learning.
For additional information, please refer to the
class website. If you have questions or
concerns you can contact me through e-mail
or by phone. As our day is filled with
learning and instruction, I will do my best to
respond to you as quickly as I can. If you
need to reach me quickly, please call the
school office.

Classroom Structure
This classroom is structured as an multi-
grade level resource room in which students
work at their own pace yet participate in
whole group activities within the classroom
and outside of the classroom. Your child
will bring home completed work packets and
additional information for conversation. Each
of the units of study will be posted on the
class website along with the many activities
and projects that are dynamic and authentic
in nature and allows the students to leverage
their strengths while building their
weaknesses.Each student will maintain their
own individualized schedule and will be
going out throughout the day with support
staff for specific classes that meet their
interests and learning needs.

Behavior Expectations
I have high expectations for the students in
my room. I expect the students to achieve
academically to their fullest potential and I
expect students to contribute in a positive
manner to the classroom. The following is a
list of rules that serve as the foundation for
our classroom.
1. Make good choices
2. Show respect
3. Expect change
4. BELIEVE, BELONG, BECOME
5 Point Scale students choices impact them
personally and those around them.
