An Output is when the computer is telling an external device what to do. An Input device is an
external device telling the computer what to do from inputted information. For an Input example, a
microphone records audio. The audio is then taken to the computer, the computer sends the audio
either through the internet to someone else or keeps it stored in the computer. Another would be a
keyboard. The keyboard detects which key is pressed, and sends that to the computer. The computer
will take this and display the letters pressed on the screen.
An Output example is the printer. The computer copies a page on its display, and sends the page
to the printer in binary. The printer decrypts it and copies the digital page on paper using ink. Another
Output would be the monitor. The computer contains information. There is no way for us to know what
is in it. So it sends the info to the monitor, which reads it and activates certain pixels of certain colors to
display the information in your local language.

RAM is a computer component. It stands for Random Access Memory. It is used to begin
programs. It does not hold saved applications, rather it runs applications that have been saved in the
computer. It is a key component. If it did not exist you would not be able to execute anything, which
means you wouldnt be able to do anything. It is basically the short-term memory. It will not work past
the computer shutting down.
ROM is another computer component. It stands for Read-Only Memory. It is used to store files.
It is accessed when the computer is turned off. It is important. It is the only way the computer can
remember something. If it wasnt there, your computer couldnt remember what you told it to do. This
means that you would have to keep the computer on at all times to let it remember anything. It is
basically the long-term memory. It will work past the computer shutting down.

The CPU stands for Central Processing Unit. It is the main processor in the computer. It executes
commands, applications, and such. It also works with inputs of several external devices. It takes the
input and processes it into a readable version that the computer can read. Without it, the computer
wouldnt be able to understand anything you put into it.
It sends out small electric charges. These charges have two variations: Off and On. Another way
of showing Off and On is binary, ones and zeroes. The computer doesnt understand words and
commands like humans do. The computer can only read binary. So the processor takes converted words
that have been turned into binary and then runs them.

Student Portfolios are collections of student work and grades. They show what the student does
in their classes and extracurricular activities that demonstrate the abilities of the student. They are for
future employers to view and judge and see if the selected student has the skills and is capable of
handling the responsibilities of the occupation of choice. They are also for university professors so they
can compare to the requirements for entry into the chosen university.
They can be online or the traditional work shown with a physical representation. Without them,
the viewers or audience would have to trust the student they are interviewing. This could be a problem
because the student could lie to get into the occupation or university they wished to enter. They also
help the student review their own work and keep track of their studies in their education.
