Accommodation Explanations

This student has difficulty in rote memory. Further, the student has difficulty in taking
notes and her comprehension is below level standards. Giving a set exam on parts of
the curriculum that are most important allows the student to study at her level while
achieving content standards.

Providing additional note pages and graphic organizers will chunk the material for the
student. This will make it easier for Student L to study and comprehend the material.
Graphic organizers with pictures will help the student, as it will include a visual cue for
memory.

A reduced course load will assist the student in that the student is capable of learning
but may have difficulty learning to the same level as the rest of the class. By focusing
on the key components of the lesson it allows the student to study to her capabilities as
well as learn content standards.

This student has a severe muscular atrophy disease. Therefore, she has difficulty
holding a pencil and writing. By allowing the student to use an iPad in class the student
can fill in their graphic organizer better as well as take tests easier. The iPad allows for
less frustration on the students part since it is touch based.

Benchmarks in each class will assist in achievable standards for this particular student.
These benchmarks should be specific to the content of the current course. They should
be reasonable given the students abilities.

The use of an aid can assist this student with not only physical disabilities but also
academic difficulties. The aid can work with the content teacher in giving appropriate
course work and achievable standards for the student. The aid can assist the student in
meeting these standards that have been set.
