Click on the web page above or type the address in a web browser. To confirm that you are on
the correct page, see the photo below of the top part of the web page. Then, follow the
directions provided below:
1) Locate the About Us tab and the Key Issues tab and click on them.
2) Look over the questions and be sure that when you are exploring the tabs you are able
to locate all the information necessary to answer the questions.
3) Answer the questions of the worksheet in the blank spaces to the right or below the
question.

First Page: Identify one trending issue from the Trending Issues
section.

Click on a trending topic you identified above and summarize in 1-2 sentences how the ACLU particularly
addresses the topic.

Select a Related Post for your trending topic and read the post: In the space below, identify the title of
the Related Post, provide 3-5 key points of the post, and write 1-2 paragraphs identifying if the post is a
civil rights or civil liberties issue with an explanation of your choice. At least one amendment must be
incorporated in your explanation, and explain using the information learned in class on how the
amendment is being violated or upheld by the government or by other citizens.

Once you have finished with the ALCU portion of the Webercise, click on the link above or type
the address in a web browser. To confirm that you are on the correct page, see the photo below
of the top part of the web page. Then, follow the directions provided below:
1) Locate the Search cagle.com search bar.
2) Review the information from the ACLU portion of the Webercise, Pick out key words to
insert to put in the search bar and search for a political cartoon.
3) Click on political cartoon that you feel best relates to your issue and post from the
ACLU activity and fulfill the following tasks below.



Right Click and select copy image, then insert the image in the space below.




Analyze the political cartoon: In 1-2 paragraphs explain what is happening, who is involved, what point is
it trying to make.






Provide a detailed explanation of how your trending issue and related post connects with the political
cartoon you have selected.

Click on the web page above or type the address in a web browser. To confirm that you are on
the correct page, see the photo below of the top part of the web page. Then, follow the
directions provided below:

1) On the page click on Student Sign Up
2) Fill in the following information: for school and educator code enter 999999, for
nickname type in the first letter of your first name, your entire last name, and the year
you were born, example: Katie Shen born 1999 will become Kshen99. For password
please type one of your choice and one you will remember!
3) Next step type in your first and last name, then click on a green button which says
Create New Glog.
4) Choose from one of the templates and begin to create a digital poster based on the
information gathered in pt. 1 and 2 of the Webercise. The digital poster must consist of
the following:
a. Title: Civil Rights and Civil Liberties Webercise
b. A section dedicated to explaining the history and purpose of the ACLU (1-2
paragraphs)
c. A section which discusses in detail your Trending Topic and your Related Post.
(1-2 paragraphs for each)
d. A section which provides the political cartoon, an explanation of the cartoon and
how the cartoon connects with your trending topic.
e. Two more additional images or videos which connect with your trending topic.
5) Once finished, you will click the green save button on the top-right corner of the site.
6) You will also save your answers on the Webercise pt.1 and 2 document, and Email me
with the document attached and the subject heading Civil Liberties & Civil Rights
Webercise Pt.1 and 2.

Below is an example based on the Civil Rights Movement, focus on the clarity of the
poster, you may be tempted to put a bunch of crazy stuff in but if I (the teacher) cant
identify if you have met the criteria of the poster then your grade will be significantly
impacted.
