Worked to create and fund the
Bronx HIRE Survivor Program
designed to train, certify and place
in jobs survivors of domestic
violence. By breaking the bond
of fnancial dependence, survivors
who go through the Bronx HIRE
Survivor program have no reason
ever to go back.
INCREASED CHILD
CARE SUBSIDIES
Secured an increase of $55 million
in child care subsidies in this years
budget allowing an additional 5,000
children of low-to-middle income
families to enroll in day care.
ELIMINATED STATUTE OF
LIMITATIONS ON RAPE
Crafed and helped pass legislation
which eliminated the 5 year statute
of limitations on rape and allowed all
victims of rape to get the justice and
peace of mind they deserved.
