1. Formative assessment
Materials: Oh, watch the stars, Mallet Instruments
Procedures:
1. Walk in song
a. Join your hands
2. Hello song+Name song
3. Rhythm Cards
4. Sing oh, watch the stars to students
a. Review ostinato (remember playing it on bells?)
5. Teach Oh, watch the stars using echo pattern
a. Oh, watch the stars, see how they run
b. Oh, watch the stars, see how they run
c. The stars run down at the setting of the sun
d. Oh, watch the stars, see how they run
6. All sing Oh, watch the stars
7. Introduce mallets and ostinatos
a. Have students sing Oh, watch the stars as CT and TA play ostinatos
8. Explain Rules of playing
a. Play how they are supposed to be played, rhythm rest, ready position, you
get what you get and you dont throw a fit
9. Choose students to play ostinatos
a. We only pick friends that are doing their job
10. Have each student play their ostinato 2x alone

13. Have students stand and crouch down on the word down in the song
