Bangus (Milk Fish)

The milkfish (Chanos chanos) is the sole


living species in the family Chanidea. It
has no teeth and generally feed on algae
and invertebrates#

Aquaculture of bangus occurred in the


Philippines around 800 years ago and
spread in Indonesia, Taiwan and into the
Pacific. It is an important seafood in
Southeast Asia and some Pacific Islands,
and is the National Fish of the
Philippines.#
