In this photograph I see a man who is destroyed. A man who is lost and confused. September 11th,
2001 was a time in American history that no one will forget. When those planes hit the twin towers it
devastated millions foreign and domestic. Some lost more than others, but it was still a loss to America as
a whole. The man in the photo appears to be praying to his son that he lost in the collapse. He is holding
onto that memorial where his son/daughters name is written. This is a man who has moved on with life,
but has NEVER forgot the loss of his son/daughter and what happened that day.
I chose this powerful photo, because 9/11 strikes me hard in the heart for some reason. Knowing
that my generation will be the last generation to remember the experience when it happened is heart
breaking. This picture reminds me that we are not always guaranteed tomorrow and that anything can
happen, we are not immortal. Growing up learning more and more about 9/11 builds a fire in me and a
will to fight for my country. I may not go overseas to fight, but I can fight back here at home and work to
protect my freedom and the freedom of my family and friends. If I was old enough to join the military
when 9/11 happened I wouldve. I have friends that are currently in the military and some that are just
joining so I know the sacrifice. Ive seen fathers like this where his little boy didnt come back home. Its
heart breaking and Ive been to the memorial in New York and seen the scene in real life. I was there a
few years ago when the memorial was being built. You could see the drive in the peoples eyes as they
built the memorial knowing that they were doing something great for the community and America as a
whole.

This will be a scene in many pictures for years to come as the sons and daughters of those who
died come back to the memorial to remember the fallen. This man is only one of many. This is where he
can come to be with his son/daughter and to look back on the good times, but also to remember the bad.
