1.

People go to the moon on a rocket ship that they have built and they find
aliens.
2. The actors are moving more in this film. The impact it has is that it helps
to develop a films use of actors, as they have to provide a high amount of
acting to develop the intensity of the film.
3. The purpose of the film was to entertain the audience as it had a fictional
story that was educating about the moon and aliens.
4. We can see the development of special effects in the scene where the
aliens are being killed. An umbrella strikes them down and smoke
appears as they vanish. We can also see it when the humans arrive back
on earth as the filmmakers film the water and add in the ship falling in the
sea. This concept is very similar to the concept of CGI as the effects are
added in afterwards, and could be considered the first form of GCI.
5. This could be considered one of the most important films in history, as it
is a landmark in storytelling as it is the first in its kind, in terms of
storytelling we know today. Also the editing is significant as it creates the
first form of genre, in that it uses it to create a sci-fi style.
6. It tells the story and creates tension through its use of music. It is the first
production that specifically uses music to create tension and is thought
out.
7. The length of this film is the first kind of feature length film in that it is
actually shown in the cinema and it is made to entertain the audience for
a lengthy period of time.
8. Muybridge and the Lumire Brothers made films that did have stories in
it, however there was no form of storytelling or narrative structure.

The film Trip to the Moon is about a group of people who build a rocket and
go to the moon. While they are there they encounter aliens, who they have to
fight and run from. They eventually get back aboard the rocket and go back to
Earth. In the there is no significant use of camera set-up, as the camera
remains stationary throughout the film. Due to this the actors move around a
lot, as they cannot use specific camera angles or shots to create tension in the
film. A high amount of acting (which, ironically, by todays standards is
considered overacting) has a large impact on the film as it would show the
audience and future generations that acting in films is very important to
create a story. With that being said, we can see the purpose of the film is to
actually tell a story and educate the audience. The acting provides
storytelling meaning that the purpose of the film is to entertain the audience.
The significant use of special effects helps to show this as well. By using
special effects it gives the audience a sense of escapism and awe while
watching it, especially in scenes like when the aliens are killed, or when the
rocket lands on the moon. When an umbrella strikes the aliens, they vanish
and smoke appears. This is a very significant piece of edited footage as it
shows that the filmmakers understand the concept of editing to create effect.
Also the scene when the rocket lands on the moon is significant as we see the
rocket land into the moons eye as it shows the audience how special effects
have advanced to show the sense of sci-fi fantasy. Perhaps the most
significant bit of editing is when the rocket crashes back on Earth, as it bares
resemblance to modern day CGI. The filmmakers film the sea, and then add
the rocket crashing in over the top. This is considered one of the first forms of
GGI. All that being said, it shows that this is one of the most important films in
history. This is because it is one of the first films that uses special effects for
storytelling and has a narrative to it that helps to progress the story being
told. This would then go on to inspire other filmmakers to do this kind of
style of filmmaking, which still is held up today. The music in the production
also helps to tell the story, as it is purposefully thought out to create tension
in the film. With the use of storytelling in the film and the length of it, this is
the first kind of film that is similar to the modern day feature length film. It
wouldve been shown in cinemas and sold to the masses to entertain the
audience. This is a variant from Eadward Muybridges or the Lumire
Brothers productions as they were made for the purpose of showing the
audience how a film is made.
