Transition: If you hear me clap once. If you hear me

put one finger on your nose. When I say go, everyone
needs to get out a piece of paper and a pen/pencil. After
you have done that, find a group of five and sit down all
together. I want to see which group can do this fastest.

Set Induction: Raise your hand if you think that

knowing certain shapes is important? What are some
shapes that you see daily?
Learnable Piece: Today we are going to review the
shapes that we have learned in class, and then spend
time making them in class.

Presentation of New Material/Directions: We will go

PowerPoint
through all the shapes and how many sides they have
on a PowerPoint. After that I will explain the activity we
will be having:
1) There are stations set up around the room. Each
station has a cup and popsicle sticks. The
popsicle sticks have the name of a shape on
them. Together, your group has to make the
shape with the Popsicle sticks, and do the activity
that correlates with the number of sides the shape
has. The activities will be listed on the PowerPoint
throughout the activity
2) For example) If you are at the station with the
shape triangle, you will make a triangle with the
popsicle sticks and do 3 squats.
3) After your group does the activity, you all need to
draw the shape on your piece of paper. You will

use this paper as a study guide for our quiz on

shapes coming up on Friday.
4) You will have approximately 30 seconds to 1
minute at each station, and then you will rotate
clockwise.
Safety: Make sure you have enough room when you are
performing the movements that correlate with the shape
you are working on. Also be sure to walk from station to
station.
Checking for understanding: What do you do with the
popsicle sticks at each station? What do you do with
your sheet of paper? What direction do you move in?
Transition: When I say go, in your groups, decide who
_____
will be number 1,2,3,4, and 5 and raise your hand. If you
Seconds
are a one you will start here, 2s, 3s, 4s, and 5s. Point
to yourself. Point to where you are going. Thumbs up
if you understand. Any questions? When I say go, you
may travel to your groups and begin. Go!

Notes:

Possible Modifications: If task seems to easy for

students, I can add popsicle sticks to the cups and have
them learn more complex shapes or even have them
make their own design. If it is too hard, we can do more
examples as a class.
Lesson Review: When you are finished at your last
station, go ahead and go back to your seats. Did this
activity help you review your shapes? Go through
review slide on PowerPoint. Use your study guide to
study for your quiz on Friday.
