Sonja Kennington’ 25 August 2013 15:57 To: Bus Bill Subject: Better Buses campaign As a supporter of the Better Buses campaign, I am writing to give my backing to the Bus Regulation (Scotland) Bill, Tagree that Scotiand’s local bus services should be re-regulated to help deliver a better quality of service for passengers. Talso support giving the Transport Commissioner greater powers to impose financial penalties on providers that fail to deliver an agreed level of service. Bus de-regulation has failed bus users who have paid ever rising fares In return for an ever diminishing service. It's also falled those that have lost thelr local service, and It’s failed the environment by pushing more and more people into car ownership, While I acknowledge that these proposals will involve some additional spending, we can‘t expect a good service on the cheap and a well-funded, regulated bus service would bring broader economic benefits to local communities.
