Bus Bill
Subject: Bus Consultation - feedback from Fife Elderly Forum
We agree in principle community transport needs to be reviewed and that the quality control is strictly regulated,
4 Observations "Why are you comparing the cost of running a railway and a national bus service? Only
comparison is that they are both public transport!
‘+ Would be beneficial to identify the cost per passenger pér mile from A-B on bus versus the cost per
passenger per mile by train.
+ Buses will always be subsided due to the number of elderly, unemployed, sick and infirm.
* A flat fee of £20 for the whole year?
‘+ Pethaps local town travel is free but a 50p charge ifthe retired older adult wished to travel further.
% Improving community transport is vital as is the retention of the bus pass. An analysis of those requiring the
bus pass.
°
Separate standards Incorporate a bus service with a town service and divide Into ateas, For example the
current Glenrothes to Ninewells, via Ladybank is @ good service. It should however include Freuchie.
* A demographic study of Scotland be carrled out. Calculate bus stops, passengers, diesel, As a matter of
Interest could community bus operators be allowed re-bated fuel for these journeys?
Why not national/European tender?
