Global Warming and Contamination
Tollefson, Jeff. "Asian pollution delays inevitable warming." Nature 463.7283 (2010):
860+. Academic ASAP. Web. 29 Oct. 2014.
This Academic Journal written by Jeff Tollefson describes how the gases and other
pollutants that we emit are increasing their concentration on the air. Many people dont care
about what this can produce in the future of some nations, or even the whole world. Although
some industrialized countries have begun to control these emissions to reduce acid rain and
protect public health, it is not enough, much more help is needed. NASA and other experts say
that the climate change and greenhouse gases produced by this pollution emitted by humans
could play out a very important role over time. Also the geography of the Earth could be affected
in a very small period of time if any preventions are taken immediately. The countries which
produce more pollution are Asia and China, especially due to their very high population. This
article is relevant to my topic because it talked about the big amount of gases that humans are
emitting and the very serious consequences that this could bring to the planet as a whole.

Hiserodt. "Having Never Heard of Global Warming." The New American 25 Oct. 2009.
Web.

Seisdedos, 2

This periodical article written by Hiserodt explains that every actual potential disaster,
like hurricanes, animal extinctions, or dead plants, for example, are due to humans trying to live
a comfortable and productive life. He also talks about the increasing concentration of CO2
(carbon dioxide) in the atmosphere, which will produce an increase in temperature in the Earth
because the thermal energy could not escape back to space because it will bounce on these gases.
This increase in temperature could produce several disasters in the next years because several
animals living in cold areas have a very high possibilities extinct. This periodical is relevant to
my topic because it clarifies that the first reason of this global warming is us, humans, and we
need to be careful this could affect negatively to our surroundings.

Ayyogari, Kondinya, Sidhya Palash, and Pandit M.K. "Impact of Climate Change on
Vegetable Cultivation." International Journal of Agriculture, Environment and
Biotechnology (2014). Web. 29 Oct. 2014.
This academic journal explains how humans activities like industrialization or
mechanization are the most important reasons for climate change. The CO2 (carbon dioxide) and
NH4 (ammonium) that we are emitting to the air is affecting other organisms like plants and their
products. It explains how fruits and vegetables, which are very important for our daily diet, are
being contaminated by these gases. The lack of essential products in our lives could produce
many diseases and viruses because we would not have the vitamins and minerals they provide to
our bodies. This Academic Journal is relevant for my topic because it talked about some very
important consequences of the air contamination.

Bord, Richard, Ann Fisher, and Robert O'Connor. "Public Perceptions of Global
Warming: United States and International Perspectives." 11 (1998). Web. 4 Nov. 2014.
This academic journal was focused in the community, the United States citizens. Some
years ago, at the end of the 20th century, public awareness and concern about global warming
was very limited. Nowadays the population is aware of all the contamination his country is
emitting every day to the air, and that this contamination could produce several disasters on the
future, like plant and animal species extinctions, or climate change due to the CO2 (carbon
dioxide). Everybody knows that some activities need to be controlled and reduced, as the big
amount of used cars every day, instead if using public transport, or maintaining public natural
parks which are very important for the absorption of CO2 and release of oxygen, which is very
important for humans. All these decisions need to be taken now because these issues are
increasing every second. This article is relevant to my topic because it explains what are some of
the global warming effects and some solutions to improve our surroundings.

Yablokov, Alexey, Vassily Nesterenko, and Alexey Nesterenko. "Atmospheric, Water,

and Soil Contamination after Chernobyl." Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences (2009).
Web. 4 Nov. 2014.
This academic journal written in 2009 explains that not all the contamination emitted is
being done in purpose. Natural disasters and other accidents can produce a high quantity of gases
and other particles which will finally end in the air and atmosphere. Accidents as the one
occurred in Chernobyl, Ukraine, can have a high percentage of the Earth affected because of the
gases and other radioactivity components released during the explosion. The author talked about
how wind and other natural events as rain or snow can transport the contamination around the

Earth, affecting a many flying animals and other organisms. Some contamination cannot be
controlled by humans, but if we have the possibility to reduce that amount we should put all the
effort possible to make our environment have a greater future.
