FAll OF USSR (1991)

This revolution was totally pointless. Soviet Union ended, however people never wanted
that. So, while Russia was critically thinking about USSR, a lot of things happened all around the
world. The fall of USSR did not harm everyone, at the same time -didn't benefit everyone, only
one side benefited while another suffered. So when Gorbachev because a ruler of USSR he
established a lot of new rules. The decision of USSR to end wasn't made together with people, it
was only decided with people in Duma. When people actually realized that something important
happened, it was too late. Currency of money changed, money itself changed.People started to
protest for days, but after a while, Etskin gave an order to NOT protest anymore or else military
will attack people. Many of civilians did for no reason.
USSR wasn't the best thing to ever happen to humanity. All main process started at 1990,
however actually fall USSR fall at 1991. 1990 year started with conflicts between azerbaijan ,
Iran on the border of USSR. Baku had actual rebellion. Non stop riots in Georgia. World was
sinking in a chaos.
March of 1990, USSR has a meeting with participants of Duma. M.C. Gorbachev was
elected as a president of USSR. May of 1990, participants of Duma had a meeting again, they
voted and democrats won. Yeltsin was chosen to represent it, After a while, people in Donbass
started to process against new policies that were created by that time. If Gorbachev and Yeltsin
worked together, all reforms and everything else would work faster, by which, I mean, one side
will benefit after all, and one will strongly suffer.

Russia itself didnt really benefit from all this, USSR was getting money and paying to
every country, while few of them were saying that they don't like this policy but still stayed
because they liked all the money USSR gained at the time. In 1991 Russia gets its own money
count which is 23.4 milliard rubles- on 119 milliards less than in 1990. However, everything
else-army, farms, communities, they all were for USSR, but Russia had to still pay those
countries from its own pocket. This evidence shows what people /society was thinking about
stuff was going on back in 1990s

This piece of evidence shows what people who lived in USSR think about USSR fall. This was
taken between December 8-17, 1990. Those were the results. People had different opinions on
what was good and what wasn't for USSR. They voted for important aspects of that time. Not
everyone agreed with new rules, not everyone had same opinions about particular things. Thats
why it was important to vote.
The last year of USSR was full of events affecting everyone incredibly! January 7, a huge
riot occupied streets in Lithuania in front of a congress building. This riot was about big jump of
prizes on everything. Prime Minister K.Prunskiene resigns from his job. January 12 decision on a
trip to Lithuania representatives of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, but at night, Soviet troops
stormed the TV tower in Vilnius capture.
Outcome bloody night to ensure the "constitutional order" is as follows: 14 killed, over 500
wounded. March of 1991, V.Pavlov makes changes on money currency, making everything

extremely expensive, and money currency stays the same. After a while, he gave and order,
money that people have , will no longer work unless they change them in a city banks. He said
, ., which means who came late, is late. When people started realizing
all this, they started to protest in moscow and other cities, they wanted to get rid of Yeltsin and
Gorbachev. All this would bring to a civil war, inside country war, and Gorbachev knew that. He
had a choice to stay and get rid of all negotiation and solve all problem, or to just, simply leave.
Guess which one he choose? Of course, he just left, taking all money and leaving all problems
unsolved, leaving people who need leader, leaving everything.
I interviewed my mom, my aunt, grandma, and my grandmas mom about how was is to
live during USSR. They all had one common point, they all said it was easier and much better.
They could afford trips 3 times a year to any country, grandma, and her mom had 2 houses each.
Those werent small houses, their companies provided everything for them, those were big
houses with a huge area. My grandma still has her, as well as my grandmas mom, which isnt
the same for my aunt, She was about 15-20 when soviet union fall, so she didn't get an
opportunity like grandma did. But, back then, if you worked you got a lot of benefits, your work,
company, your employer will provide everything you ned and don't need. This shows that people
actually liked USSR. It wasnt as bad as it is described. Yes, people who didnt work-had no
money, but its their fault that they didnt work since school and every type of education was free.
In my opinion, USSR was a good thing back then, and it was pointless to change it.
French revolution was similar to Russian revolution in one way- Absolution. "Up to this
moment I have been pleased to entrust the government of my affairs to the late Cardinal. It is
now time that I govern them myself. You [secretaries and ministers of state] will assist me with
your counsels when I ask for them. I request and order you to seal no orders except by my

command, . . . I order you not to sign anything, not even a passport . . . without my command; to
render account to me personally each day and to favor no one." (Louis XIV, 1643) This quote is
about having one absolute monarch, one who will do as he wills to do. People werent agree with
having one absolute monarchso they would try to protest. When people wanted to change
something, or when they werent agree with a government, they would protest, try to get their
rights. However, in this situation, Louis XIV wouldnt allow that. He was strict in this way-he
would execute people for trying to say a word against his policy. This is similar to what
happened in 1990, one year before the USSR fall. People who govern in Duma had a meeting,
noone but them knew about it. They made decisions that affected country in a huge way, without
people knowing it. So during this meeting they came to a decision that USSR must end. But no
one asked people if they wanted it. After people realized changes that have been done, they
organized a big protest in every city, but obviously governors didnt like, so they sent military
forces there to fight this innocent people. Same with France, Louis XIV was doing what he think
is right without a support of society. Both countries didn't care about its citizens.
So as I said before, this revolution was pointless, and not necessary at all. People had
better lives before, than hey did after. People had everything, they worked, and they could buy
anything, their companies gave them houses, all the benefits. Thats why in USSR everyone
worked. However, French revolution was very important, since it wasnt good at all, people had
no rights at all, poverty was all over the streets of France. This means some revolutions bring
you to a better future, and some do opposite.
