Ingraham, Christopher (October 1st, 2014, 10:33AM) 92% of Patients Say Medical Marijuana
works. Washington Post.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/92%-of-patients-say-medical
marijuana-works. Web.
A survey in California done in 2014 found that 92% of medical marijuana patients
approve of the product. Patients claimed the marijuana alleviated their symptoms and
reduced chronic pain. The surveyed showed that 5% of adults used medical marijuana for
a serious medical issue. This shows there is a diversity in the age of people using medical
marijuana. It isnt just the younger adults that use it for medical benefits.
Rennert, Kera (December 13, 2013) Medical Marijuana: What does science say?
CBSNEWS.com/videos/medical-marijuana/what-does-science-say. Web.
Out of the 50 states in the US, 20 of them allow the use of medical marijuana. The
marijuana plant contains 60 different chemicals known as cannabinoids. The most wellknown is THC. This is the psychoactive chemical that gets you high. These
cannabinoids can be given to a patient with HIV or is undergoing chemo therapy. The
cannabinoids reduces their nausea caused by their illness and allows them to eat. The
cannabinoids can also be given to reduce multiple kinds of pains.
Harvey, Brett (June 8, 2007) The Union: The Business Behind Getting High. Canada.
Documentary.
This documentary is about how Canada has an illegal trade of marijuana throughout the
country and this trade has made millions in revenue. Thus giving it the name The
Union. It was really informative actually. It shines light on the biggest reason why we
should legalize marijuana and distribute it like alcohol and tobacco. That reason is the
large amounts of revenue we could get by taxing it. If we regulated marijuana like the
way we do alcohol, wed be swimming in the dough. I saw this documentary on Netflix.
Im not sure if its still on there anymore.
Gupta, Sunjay Dr. (Thu August 8, 2013) CNN Health: Why I Changed My Mind on Weed.
www.cnn.com/2013/08/08/health/gulpa-changed-mind-marijuana/ web. In the article
Gupta starts off by claiming to be totally against marijuana. He even said he believed
marijuana should be classified as a class A drug. Amongst heroin and cocaine. But then
he began traveling the nation and saw the true benefits medicinal marijuana has. She
met a patient who had 300 seizures a week and medical marijuana lowered it to 2 or 3.
This article is extremely helpful because it shows actual positive effects of marijuana on
a patient.
Walia, Arjun (August,8,2013) www.collective-evolution.com/2013/08/23/20-medical-studiesthat-prove-cannabis-can-cure-cancer/ web. This website shows different types of
cancers and the ways cannabis can help patients out. The website lists about 7 types
of cancers and a few types of ways marijuana can relieve pain, increase appetite, or
another helpful job. This website is beyond helpful because not only
does
it name specific types of cancers, it also tells you exactly how marijuana helps. It even
cites the sources the authors used in their research.
Reinbach L Gustin (May 16,2012) www.nytimes/2012/05/17/opinion/a-judges-plea-formedical-marijuana.html2_r=0/ web. This article is about a New York judge who, on his
62ns birthday, found out he has stage 3 pancreatic cancer. The doctors told him he only
had about 4 more months to live. He turned out to be one of the few people living
along with that type of cancer. His key to success? Medical marijuana! He claims the
cancer is going away slowly and medical marijuana helps him with the nausea and it
increases
his appetite. This is very helpful because the man is a judge and he claims
medical marijuana is saving his life. He changed his mind about the whole marijuana
theme only because it is the only things helping him out majorly. Without the marijuana
hed be dead.
