WhatIstheDownloadManager?
TheDownloadManagerisanapplicationfromAkamaiTechnologiesthatprovidesfaster,moreflexiblelargefile
downloadingthanisnormallyavailablethroughbrowsers.Autodeskusesthisapplicationtomakeiteasierto
downloadlargefiles.

TheDownloadManagerletsyoudownloadlargerfilesthansomestandardbrowsersallow.
YoucanpauseandresumedownloadsatanytimeevenifyourestartyourPCorcloseyour
browser.
TheDownloadManagerprovidesdetailedinformationaboutdownloadprogressandsuccess
rates.
Ifthewebsiteusescookiestoauthenticateyourdownloadrequests,theDownloadManagerwill
usethosecookiesthesamewayyourbrowserwould.

InstallingtheDownloadManager
ThefirsttimeyouclickalinktoaDownloadManagerenabledfile,youwillseethefollowingdialogbox:

Dependingonthebrowserandplatformyouuse,youmayalsobeaskedtoacceptasecuritycertificatefrom
AkamaiTechnologies,installActiveX,orinstalltheSunJavaRuntimeEnvironment.

IfyouwanttoinstalltheDownloadManager:

DisableanypopupblockersandacceptthesecuritycertificatefromAkamaiTechnologies.Install
ActiveXorSunJRE,ifneeded.
ClicktheDownloadNowbutton,andtheDownloadManagerwillbeautomaticallyinstalled.

TheDownloadManagerisnowinstalled.UsetheSavedialogboxtospecifywhereyouwantthefiledownloaded
andclickSave.

OnceyouinstalltheDownloadManager,everylinkontheAutodesksitethatisDownloadManagerenabledwill
automaticallyusetheDownloadManagertospeedyourfiledownloads.

IfyoudonotwanttoinstalltheDownloadManager:

UsingtheDownloadManager
Whenthedownloadbegins,theDownloadManagericonisplacedonthedesktopandthefollowingwindow
appears:

Thiswindowlistsallthecurrentdownloads.Youcandownloadseveralfilesatthesametime,andyoucanselect
filesonwhichtotakefurtheractions,suchaspausingorcanceling.

Pause/ResumeTogglesbetweenpausingadownloadandresuming.Youcanselectafiletopauseortoresume
downloadingifpreviouslypaused.IfyouclickPause,thebuttonchangestoResume.

CancelRemovesafilefromthedownloadlistandstopsdownloadingit.

DetailsShowsadialogboxthatdisplaysthedownloadprogress,howmuchtimeislefttocompletethe
download,andthefiletransferrate.

ExitPauseswhateverdownloadsareinprogressandclosesthelistwindow.

YoucanrelaunchtheDownloadManagerandresumeadownloadatanypoint,evenafteryouturnthe
computeroffandbackon,bydoubleclickingtheDownloadManagericononthedesktoptoopenthelist
window.

RemovingtheDownloadManagerfromInternetExplorer
ThisappliestothoserunningtheDownloadManagerwithInternetExplorer.

IfyouwanttoremovetheDownloadManagerfromyourInternetExplorerapplication,youcandeletethe
ActiveXcontrolasfollows:

1. CloseallopenDownloadManagerwindowsandallInternetExplorerwindows.
2. ReopenInternetExplorer.
3. FromtheToolsmenu,selectInternetOptions.
4. SelecttheGeneraltab.
5. IntheTemporaryInternetFilesand/orHistorySettingsgroup(dependingonyourversionofIE),clickthe
Settingsbutton.
6. IntheSettingsdialog,clicktheViewObjectsbutton.
7. IntheDownloadedProgramFileswindowthatopens,rightclicktheDownloadManagerobjectand
selectRemove.
8. ClosetheDownloadedProgramFileswindowandInternetOptionswindows.
