Stare or New Yor EXECUTIVE CHAMBER Auoany 12224 Vv ET O#550 OC 1? 20H TO THE ASSEMBLY: Lam returning herewith, without my approval, the following bill: Assembly Bill Number 934, entitled: “AN ACT in relation to establishing a special commission on compensation for state employees designated managerial or confidential, and providing, for its powers and duties” NOT APPROVED ‘This bill would create a commission to examine, evaluate and make binding recommendations with respect to levels of compensation and non-salary benefits for managerial ‘or confidential state employees. Thus, it is the sasne bill that I vetoed last year (Veto No. 211). ‘This year I muthorized a 2%% salary increase for these employees. Since taking office, my administration has implemented longevity and merit increases for various grades of | or confidential employees and has planned for othes increases in the near future. But given the Sinte's traditional managerial role in this policy area and the usbudgeted costs that could be imposed as.a result of this legislation, such a restructuring of compensation is better raised in the context of the State Budget process. For these reasons, | vetoing this bill. ‘The bill is disapproved.
