SUNDAY OF ADVENT

Vigil Mass

(Gunnersbury)

Glory to God!
Above all else, this is what Christmas bids us to do: give glory to
God, for he is good, he is faithful, he is merciful. Today I voice
my hope that everyone will come to know the true face of God,
the Father who has given us Jesus. My hope is that everyone
will feel Gods closeness, live in his presence, love him and
adore him.
May each of us give glory to God above all by our lives, by lives
spent for love of him and of all our brothers and sisters.

Pope Francis

Canon Anthony & Father Andrew

wish you and your families every
blessing and peace at Christmas and in
the coming year.

PREPARING FOR CHRISTMAS
An indispensable part of our preparation for
Christmas is celebrating the Sacrament of
Reconciliation, making sure that not just all
the practical arrangements are in order, but
that we are ready spiritually to celebrate the
coming feast. Confessions will be heard:

ALTAR SERVERS
There is just one Mass on St Stephens Day,
December 26th, at 10.00am. As St Stephen is
the patron saint of Altar Servers a number of
new servers will be enrolled in the Guild of
St Stephen. We hope, very much, that many
of our altar servers will be present to renew
their promises and honour their patron saint.
CHRISTMAS SERVICES
Details of the Masses, and other events in
church, over Christmas will be found on the
Christmas card which is available today. If
you havent already done so please take one

taking an additional one for someone you
know who no longer may actively practise
their faith.

SUMMER FAIR
The Summer Fair might seem to be but a
distant memory but finally the accounts have
been completed and it is good to be able to
report that 11,449.16 was raised. This is a
great sum of money which reflects the hard
work of the organising committee, as well as
the generosity of so many other people too.
The Summer Fair is a happy and enjoyable
day for our parish, and one that benefits the
charities we support which this year were:
Acton Homeless Concern, Cedars Youth
Centre, Hounslow Extra Club, Mulberry
Centre and Wormwood Scrubs Disabled
Riding School. So thank you everyone who
worked so hard, and gave their support to this
event.
A PRE-CHRISTMAS MEDITATION
FOR CHRISTMAS - An ecumenical
meditation, especially for anyone for whom
the Christmas period is, for any reason,
not an entirely happy prospect and who
would welcome support and encouragement,
will be held at Christ Church, Turnham
Green, W4 5DT at 4.30 pm on 21 December.
It will be led by Ben Bowmaker of
Meditation, the World Community for
