Course Description: This competency based course is intended to train students in the entry level skills needed for computerrelated occupations. Students will learn Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Presentations, Desktop Information Management,
Database, File Management, use of Internet, photo manipulation, and keyboarding.
Course Objective: Welcome to CBA Level 1. Students will have the opportunity to learn the basics of Microsoft Office 2013
and will enhance their skills by conducting hands-on training via projects, case studies, lesson plans and presentations.
Textbooks: Textbooks will be assigned to student by number. Textbooks will be students responsibility. If textbook is lost or
written in student will be responsible for replacing textbook. Textbook prices range from $10-$75.
Materials: The student must come to class prepared with Binder, binder paper, 2-pencils, 2-pens and any other materials
needed for learning.
Tardy Policy: SUHSD policy will be followed. Late to class 30 minutes or more is equal to an absence. Tardies will cost you
5 pts. per day. I ask that you be on time and seated by the time class starts, if you are late you will lose 5 points. (Tardy number
3 = call parent, Tardy number 5 = U citizenship)
Attendance Policy: Class time is very important. Absences limit point opportunities, especially for class work and
participation activities. Its necessary to be in class every day in order to receive a satisfactory grade and earn full credits.
Absences will cost you participation points (10 pts. per day).
Career Center: If for some reason you are unable to attend class you must report to the Career Center and you MUST call me
to report your absence, and you must request an assignment, you will be graded on behavior and performance when you are in
the Career Center. The Career Center cannot be used as an excuse not to come to class. Every time you are at the Career
Center you will lose 10 points. (Career Center number 5 = U in citizenship).
Restroom Use: Students are asked to use the restroom before or after class. There is plenty of time between classes to take
care of business. Restroom use will not be allowed the first 15 minutes from the start of class or the last 15 from the end of
class.
Citizenship:
Citizenship grades are issued every quarter. In order to meet the requirements for an (O) Outstanding Citizenship grade you
must:
1. Turn in all assignments (late assignments are acceptable).
2. Have NO unexcused absences or tardiness.
3. Actively participate in class.
An (U) Unsatisfactory Citizenship grade will be given out of you fall under any of these categories:
1. Academic dishonesty (cheating).
2. Tardiness
3. Any disruptive behavior that takes away from the learning experience from the student or class.

Grading:
A = 100 - 90%
B = 89 - 80 %
C = 79 - 70%
D = 69 - 60 %
F = 59 -

Superior work in all areas. Exemplary performance and participation


Good work in most areas, minor deficiency in relation to the expectations.
Passing work, but in serious need of improvement in most areas. Below
Professional quality standards.
Work shows deficiency in knowledge of material
Failing; little conformity to teachers expectations. Represents work that deserves little or no credit.

Progress Report: Twice a month (on Fridays) students will receive a progress report, students have one week to make-up any
missing assignments. Assignments must be turned in within one week. If you are absent during an exam, you will have three
(3) days for make-up. If a make-up assignment or the exam are not made up within the allowed time, they will
automatically turn into a zero and will NOT be accepted after allowed time has passedNO EXCEPTIONS! If there
are any concerns regarding grades and progress report please consult with teacher after class.

Where: Everywhere, of course. I specifically expect all of us to demonstrate this respect in the classroom
during class time.
How: Follow all instructions completely
Be nice or neutral in your interactions with others
Demonstrate academic integrity
Class Expectations:
Speak only in target language at teacher request.
Be on time and seated by the time class starts with all necessary class materials.
Be on task with class and complete all work.
Be respectful of everyone in classroom.
Raise your hand when you have a question.
Listen when someone else is speaking.
Cheating will not be tolerated.
Cell phones, IPods, MP3 and other electronic devices should be turned off during class.
Always do your best.
Important Information!!!
All electronic devices MUST be off and out of sight. If seen, they will be confiscated (cell phones, IPods, MP3,
cameras, etc.) Just in case you do not know, vibrate is not off!!! (If your family needs to contact you during class,
they are to call the front office and will be transferred to my classroom)

1st Offense: Verbal Warning.


2nd Offense: Electronic device will be confiscated and returned at the end of class.
3rd Offense: Electronic device will be confiscated and given to Administrator (Phone call to parents w/ conference).
4th Offense: At the discretion of the teacher, student will be withdrawn from class.

Consequences:
Consequences are used for any disruptive or disrespectful behavior in class.
1. Verbal warning
2. Phone call to parents
3. Referral to ROP Career Center Counselor
4. Parent Conference
Goals:

1. Student will learn and/or enhance their computer application skills.


2. Student will build on their social skills and learn to network with other students
