**This is why colleges change names from college to university
***An example: Queens College is now Queens University
because they now offer more than 4 year degrees!
They offer many more programs compared to most colleges
They have colleges inside of the university
* You do not enter into the college of your study till junior year and you
must have a certain GPA to continue with that major
**College of Business, College of Education, College of Engineering
*** It also may describe the location of buildings for that college on the
universitys

Universities are cheaper! They are mostly state funded unless it is private
university
*in state student going to an in state university
**Example: NC resident attending East Carolina University

They offer many intramural clubs and sports besides their main teams
that represent the university

Option 1 : Associates degree
A degree that only takes two years to receive at a post
secondary school,
* An associates degree can earn you more money and be
even more in demand
than careers with a 4 year degree
* Mechanical Drafter: prepares diagrams of machinery and
mechanical devices

Option 2: Get your first 2 years from a community college and then
transfer to a 4 year college or university in which you enter as a junior

*For 2 years average cost is 3,500- 7,000
**If you maintain a 3.0 or better in community college, you will most
likely get into a university that was extremely difficult to get into as a
freshmen

Option # 3: Earn a certificate for a trade(certification) that provides


good, stable income and is always in demand

- Cosmetologists : People who do hair and makeup as a profession

-Air and heat technician: AV tech who fixes heating and air
systems

- Plumber: One who fixes all plumbing issues in a house or in a


corporate building

- Welders: People who weld together material to hold structures
