Definition of Family
In the context of human society, a family is a
group of people affiliated by consanguinity (by
recognized birth), affinity (by marriage), or coresidence and/or shared consumption (see
Nurture kinship). Members of the immediate
family may include, singularly or plural, a
spouse, parent, brother, sister, son and/or
daughter. Members of the extended family may
include grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins,
nephews nieces and/or siblings-in-law

The Development of Family

1. consanguinity family First form of family in
human history. Trait: males and females who
are in the same status of a generation in the
family are considered married.
2. The Punaluan family Second stage of
family. Trait: Brothers from one family marry
sisters from another family (Engels).
3. Couple family: A transition family stage
before the monogamy family. Trait: The
husband choses a main wife out of all his
wives, and vise versa.

4. Monogamy family: The final stage of the
development of family. Trait: Male is at the
dominate position in the marriage, so that the
descendants will have same blood origin and it
is easy for them to inherit the heritage.

Family Structure
There are three basic types of family structure:
Through marriage: spouse mother-in-law and
daughter-in-law sisters-in-law etc.
Through blood:Parents and children, brothers
and sisters, grandparents and grandchildren,
etc.
Through adoption: foster parents and children,
foster grandparents and grandchildren, etc.

Functionalist Analysis
1. Economics Function: Including family in the
production, distribution, exchange and
consumption. It makes the material basis of family
functioning other ways.
2. Fertility function: Since humans into individual
marriage system, family has always been a family

3. Education function: Including parents education
children and two aspects of education between

Functionalist Analysis

Functionalist Analysis
Canadian urban sociologist Ernest Watson Burgess
thought that as the process of industrialization and
urbanization, the function of family offshoring has
occurred, mainly for domestic economy, education,
entertainment, health protection and religious
function to other institutions, only the happiness of
its members, and personal development in the
function of growth. Burgess believes that offshoring
in the family function to promote the family from
institutions to the companion model change. The
former entirely by the traditional rules and
practices to sustain, while the latter with emotion
as the basis of its existence (Burgess)

Conflict Analysis
1. Between sisters and brothers.
In the process of socialization, minor children do not
know how to deal with each other in rational way
disputes, which is very easy to use violence to solve
the contradiction between each other (fight).
Violence between brothers and sisters are usually
only occurs in young teens between brothers and
sisters, and the adult is rarely violence between
brothers and sisters. This is because they are after
their families, there is no too much time together.
The small family area lies between both increase the
encounter between the brothers and sisters of
kindness, and reduces the chance of violence.

2. Parent abuse child
Parents of child abuse violence violence is one
of the most day-to-day work. In Chinese
families, there are few didn't beat and scold by
the parents of children. In most cases, people
don't think parents beat children as abuse, and

deliberately harm children in parents to beat
their children, people think that is the behavior
of child abuse

2. To Family members: Domestic violence as
the concept of family is not harmonious

How to Make the Family

better?
Trust, believe and dare to trust, this is the basis of
the relationship. Without trust, not only can
guarantee the specificity of love, also can destroy
each other's psychological balance, tired of family
life, to love, the result can only make the marriage.
To see a problem with understanding, stand in each
other's position. Each person's hobby is different, as
far as possible to meet each other's psychological
needs and provide convenience for each other.
Otherwise, the loss will arises spontaneously,
discontent, annoyance, resentment will be followed,
leading to all kinds of disharmonious factors.

How to Make the Family

better?
Tolerance, wide have volume. Man to err, to err
is human. And sometimes it might as well close
one eye. People's self-esteem, since I was a
child once damaged, will be painful. If respect,
then will be pleased and satisfied. The practice
of any reprimand or disparage belittle love will
harm the other person's self-esteem.
