Gamma

MMSTC

About the Types

Alpha- Heavy, very short-range particle

Beta- Light, short-range particle

Gamma- Highly penetrating

electromagnetic radiation.

MMSTC

Sun Radiation

Sun gives off all three types

Microwave creates a solid replica

Microwave gives off similar radiation

Hypothesis
As the time of exposure to radiation increases, the
seeds will take more days to germinate. There is a
possibility that the radiation may cause such a negative
effect that the seed may never actually germinate. Also,
as the amount of water the seed receives increases,
the numbers of days the seed takes to germinate will
decrease

Data Analysis

As radiation increased, so did the number

of days until germination
As water increased, the number of days
until germination decreased
(+, -) High water, low radiation was
quickest
(-,+) resulted in longest germination

MMSTC

15

What happened?
Radiation may have stunned seed growth
If seed does not overcome stun, may
never grow
If seed germinates, once plant is grown
the stomata can close due to radiation
Damaged cells

Conclusion

The hypothesis that as the time of

exposure to radiation increases, the
seeds will take more days to germinate.
Also, as the amount of water the seed
receives increases, the numbers of days
the seed takes to germinate will decrease
