Europe Reflection

1.) Europe has developed as a nation and a group because in 1957, a

couple countries such as Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg
and the Netherlands formed a nation called the United Nations which
was to made to help keep peace with one another and other countries
that need help. Throughout the years, Immigration has been another
issue for Europe causing unemployment and illegal organizations.
Countries like Sweden want to regulate it while the British and French
want tighter boarder control. Furthermore, the Euro has been invented
for most of Europe and the EU is trying to spread it so it becomes
easier to trade and work with others.
The Yugoslavia war is another way Europe has developed but this time
with individual nations. In the 1980s a man named Slobodan Milosevic
took over politically in Serbia wanting everyone to be Serbian in the
other nations around him. Including Croatia and Slovenia and this
resulted in war for about 3 years and when it was finally over, Croatia
and the others won their independence and not get forced to be serbs.
This created 6 new nations and showed how Europe developed in a
good way. Now, these new nations also known as the Balkan states
want to join the EU to make Europe a stronger nation.

2.) There are many economic conditions in Europe one of those being the
different currency that each country uses. Most use the Euro while
others prefer not to convert such as Switzerland using francs, Croatia
using Kunas, Denmark using Krones and many others. The reason this
is like this is because the countries that joined the E.U dont yet meet
the criteria to convert over. It is also a mix of political and economic
reasons. For the U.K, it seems like they are using their currency as a
symbol of power to Brussels. For more eastern nations, they just have
bad inflation rates. Then there are some like Sweden and Denmark
that just do not want to accept the euro because they are used to their
own system.
Some special conditions in European nations is the border dispute
between Croatia and Serbia due to their history. It was agreed that
each country controls their side of the main river flow. During the war
though, two rivers which have been part of Croatia came under Serbian
rule. Croatia is asking that the islands be returned because of the
Badinter Arbitration Committee decision from 1991 that all internal

borders between Yugoslav republics have become international. The

Serbian military has stopped guarding that area because they shot 19
Croatian adults and 8 kids. They are now under police control not
allowing Croatia to have back this region.
